Unionbay Men's Cordova Belted Messenger Cargo Short - Reg and Big and Tall Sizes

I've been wearing Unionbay's Men's Cordova cargo shorts for years now, and have worn out quite a few pair. Sadly however, Unionbay has seen fit to produce a cheaper made variant of this once phenom of a cargo short. What's different from the originals? To start with, the leg ties are no longer functional. Where you could once pull them tight, and tie off the leg opening, now they're nothing more than non-functional window dressing. Merely two three inch long pieces of fabric made to look as though the leg openings could be tied. The cargo pockets are no longer riveted in the corners, and the velcro used on all of the pockets is much thinner, smaller in size, and weaker at keeping your pockets closed when actually using them. It's a sad day for me, for as I said, I've worn this brand and style for years.

Unrequested story, but I don't care.I accidentally bought a pair of these years ago, in Hawaii.....Wait....Let me rephrase that....I bought an extremely similar pair of Union Bay shorts in Hawaii years ago, and they were instantly my favorite shorts. And I'm a guy that tends to wear shorts 7 days a week, 365 days a year.I'm serious. My body thermostat runs very high, so I wear shorts in the Winter, too.....and will only wear long pants of any kind if I'm going to be outside for over 45 minutes...or if it's required.Anyway....Back to the shorts.....The pair I bought in Hawaii saw many years of wear, but I couldn't find then again, anywhere. I searched and searched and nothing....Then a few days back I stumble across these here on Amazon, and thought I was seeing things. Ordered them right away, hoping they were exactly like the pair I had, and when they arrived, it was a great day.They fit GREAT!!!....Just order the waist size you would on a basic pair of jeans, and you WON'T go wrong!I'm 6' 3", and wear 36" inseam jeans....So, finding shorts that aren't Daisy Dukes is neaxt to impossible.....Until now.I LOVE them!!....And every payday will be buying the different colrs they have....and even multiples of a few.Comfortable.....Tough....Look great totally slobbed out or casual with a nicer shirt.Exactly like I had before, and can't thank Union Bay and Amazon, enough! ......It's been a long search!

I never like giving negative reviews, but I will say that I held on to these for a month before wearing them because I bought them for vacation. I the third time I wore them, a small hole began to show around the crotch, about an inch and a half right of the zipper, where there are no seams. By the end of the day, it had spread to 7 inches. The fabric just began unraveling. I keep my phone in that pocket, and it appears as if the weight of my phone put too much strain. It is really weird. I'm just glad I wasn't running commando, as I had no idea that the tear had spread. Eventually my family noticed it while we were at a zoo. I untucked my shirt, but it didn't cover all of it. Quite embarrassing. We tried to repair it in our vehicle, but it didn't to much good. Even with the stitching, it began coming apart again, which can be sen in attached photo. Buy at your own risk.

I'm 6'4" 190 and they fit perfectly. Length is right under the knee the way I like it. If you are under 6 feet tall maybe they are a little long but for taller guys they work very well. There are 2 negatives if you can call them that. One is that the shorts come with annoying tags that you have to be careful when removing. The second negative is that the material is a little thinner than I would have preferred. They won't withstand heavy use or hard work. This is only a minor negative though. I've had shorts with even thinner material last for years but if you are a big guy that would stretch the material then I would suggest something stronger. For tall thin guys these will fit great. I'm getting a couple more color to rotate. Not easy to find shorts that fit this well.

He really loves these shorts I found for him, especially loves the length. He's 6'2" and most shorts show his knees and ride up, so these were nice and long without looking like capris. All around, they fit great. However, I am worried about the stitching...the quality is questionable as I already see some pulls in conspicuous areas, such as the side pockets (not good if you aren't exactly one to "baby" your clothes). Already, I see long strings hanging and they are tied off very sloppily, as if it was done at the factory. It's too bad, because these are the first shorts he's liked in a while, but I'm not a great seamstress, so I am not sure how I'm going to fix these for him once they start getting more messed up :(

Pros: Looks good, fit well, comfortable. Lots of stitching (although stitching looks cheap and stitching is too far apart).Cons: Extremely cheap coloring. Sewing is also cheaply done. Velcro is extremely cheap.Washed them once and color is already fading off all of the edges.Quality is something I put a lot of stock in. These shorts had high potential but the quality is sub par. I won't be buying from them again unless they increase their quality.Ways to fix: Tighten up the stitching, bigger velcro, better velcro, properly sew velcro onto pockets or just switch to buttons. Do whatever you gotta do to fix the color fading issue. There is no reason why color should fade after one wash.

I was surprised to find, as a 6'5" guy, that these pants are actually LONG enough for me. Almost all of the cargo pants out there look like 1980's spanks on me due to my longer thigh length. Another reviewer mentioned these are longer and I'll be darned they're great! The material is pleasant feeling and they come with a matching belt (pictured) that makes tightening the waist down a breeze. I'm quite pleased with these shorts, and wear them maybe a little too often...

Me gusta el estilo de la prenda, sin embargo tiene algunos detalles que me hacen no darle mas estrellas:1.- La tela es muy delgada, por lo que no creo que dure mucho2.- Tiene detalles de demasiados hilos sueltos, lo que me deja ver que su control de calidad no es lo suficientemente riguroso3.- La cintura debiera tener algún material que haga que no se deforme al usarlo, pero dicha área es exactamente igual que el resto del pantalón, y el cinturón con el que viene de fabrica , por su delgadez (al igual que toda la prenda) también se deforma junto con la cintura.Ojalá tuvieran mayor control de calidad, ya que en realidad no es un producto muy económico que digamos, y diseñadores que les preocupara la opinión de los clientes si es que a ellos su propia experiencia no les da para poder fijarse en esos detalles.
