One of the greatest eras in pop music was the 1980s. Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal, and soul all co-existed on the charts and new exciting artists appeared almost weekly to spice up our listening pleasure. The Starship racked up #1 hits like Sara and We Built This City , The Little River Band came from down under with songs like Lonesome Loser and Cool Change and The Stray Cats Rock This Town . New teen sensations like Tiffany sang I Saw Him Standing There and Debbie Gibson crooned Foolish Beat to million selling chart toppers. Hard rocking hair bands like White Lion gave us When the Children Cry and Cinderella begged for Somebody Save Me while Loverboy pleaded to Turn Me Loose . The 80s was one of the most diverse chapters in the modern pop era and this collection contains 36 of the best songs of that decade, newly recorded or live in concert renditions of your favorite 80s memories.

Don't waste your money
If I could give zero stars I would. The music sounds nothing like the original songs. I bought this for a specific song and listening to the whole cd irritated me. Who ever sings these songs do a horrible job! Don't waste your money.

Passable
I agree with the other one star review. I deleted about half of the songs because they sounded so bad and/or because they were "live" songs which I can't stand. It's OK because I liked about half of the songs and it was inexpensive. Though I wouldn't buy it in retrospect.

Not Orginal Artists
Just terrible. Waste of dough. Hard pass.

Don't buy it . . .
If you know and appreciate 80s music, do not buy this CD set. You will be very disappointed. The set is advertised as Original Artist re-recording. Most of the songs are live (even ones NOT marked as live recordings), and some of the songs do not sound like the original artists at all, particularly Kool & The Gang, Debbie Gibson, Hall & Oates, and Stephen Bishop (the man singing his song was so out of tune it hurt my ears!!). As if all of this were not bad enough, the sound quality is also very poor, as if someone went to people's concerts and illegally recorded songs on some crappy device. Lastly, some of these songs are not even from the 80s! They are from the 70s. Overall, very poor job of "Best of the 80s". I am most upset about the fakes. Amazon needs to do something about the fakes being sold on here as if they were originals.

Don't but this
This CD sounds like a good compilation, but in reality they took all the fun songs you loved in the 80s and tweeked them just enough so they suck. When you want to sing along, you can't cuz the Canadian producers thought it'd be fun to do "New stereo recordings by the original artists" which they note in fine print, hidden amongst the lame cover 'art'.
