Bookendz Be-Mbp15Sd 15 Inch MacBook Pro Docking Station

This item could not be easier to use. Set the Mac Book into the base and carefully slide the side block into the computer ports. Done. I have an external monitor and 3 external hard drives hooked up along with speakers and a wireless mouse/keyboard. If I need to take the Mac, slide the handle in back to disengage the side block and I'm out. I would have given it 5 stars but I did need to buy an additional power cord so I could leave one at the docking station area and have one in my travel bag. Plus the other downside is the price. It may be a bit expensive if you really don't have a ton of external things to plug and unplug.

A docking station for the MAC is soemthing I have been waiting for a long time. When I saw this I did some research and saw lots of complaints on line about setting it up. I don't know what all the complaining was about. I took it out of the box, plugged everything in and it only tood a few minutes. It works great. the users guide was not in the box but I went on youtube and there was a video done by the company that showed exactly how to set it up.there is another product out there that is made of plastic and also has some people frustrated with installation. It is much cheaper, but go for the BookEndz one instead. I purchased this with great hopes that it would help me organize all of the cables that I have to connect when I use my laptop at my work desk. I run a second monitor, external corded keyboard, network cable, and two external hard drives, one for cloning my drive daily, the other for time machine. Needless to say there are cable all over the place.The Bookendz is great in concept, but incredibly poor in execution. Ever since ordering this over a year ago I have had problems with all of the attached devices working consistently, especially my second monitor. I have been through TWO replacement units, which means I am on number three at the moment, and it is malfunctioning just as the prior units did. I have given up and would only accept a refund instead of trying a fourth time.I suspect the problem is with the connection between the Macbook's ports and the Bookendz dock. Tech suport has suggested removing the power cord from the unit for ten minutest. They have also suggested cleaning the connections with rubbing alcohol. This has not resolved my long, long frustrating experience of trying to use the dock. I'm done trying to make it work.

Like the other reviewers, I agree that this docking station is super easy to set up. It took me 5 minutes and everything works great. However, I use this mac at work and I need a bit more out of a docking station. Where is the lock? It originally said it was capable of being locked, but I see nowhere to do so. Also, there's no place to connect a third monitor.All in all it works well, but it's lacking in functionality compared to PC docking stations out there.

The Speaker jack output slide piece is poorly designed. I have to jack with it to make it work and I spend more time working it than it would take to hook all the connections up. Not happy with that part and the fact that it does not have power for the Laptop itself. Don’t buy! I regret I did not return it on the first day when I received it.

This product arrived ready to go, just pulled it from the box set on desk plugged in various cords and it works perfect!! It is nice to be able to walk into to work and home and set this in the dock and have everything working. Now my back up is always connected etc. I had purchase a docking station from this company for my previous macbook pro and I used it for years without any problems, now my son has it and loves it.

Don't expect a nice accessory. This docking station has poor design and materials are rather cheap. I don't like the way the unit connects with the laptop. It makes my MacBook Pro look ugly and bulky. You can see immediately it is not an apple accessory, which wouldn't be so bad if this thing wasn't so expensive. Clearly the company is taking advantage of the lack of competition for these kind of products.

I just got this item in today and it is awesome. 1. No assembly! 2. very sleek and looks good with mac. 3. Super easy to use straight out the box. Ok so the price is higher than other options but the quality is great, real sturdy and unlike most other options you are able to open and use macbook while connected to dock. There are cheaper alternatives out there, but this is truly a case of you get what you pay for.
