Easy & Quick to use.
I have never painted any figure until now so although my paintwork may not be as good as someone who does this all the time. These paints make up for it on the effects they give with the natural highlighting, giving the appearance of texture. I was worried they would be very watery and run but whilst it is very wet it doesn't run it holds where you put it but pools to create the highlighted effect. Its incredible how it works really. They were very easy to use and do make the models come to life. These have dried overnight. Even beginners like me can use these and produce great models. Fantastic value for money (when I got them they were on offer). They will last along time too. I used 6 drops in total for the 4 skeletons and 2 drops for the mummies. Easy to store and love that they are screw top resealable. Colours are stronger than I imagined, I have only used pallid bone here but it's fairly realistic. I am impressed and will buy the metallic seat so I can complete armour and weapons

Great paints
Great set, superseded now by the 2.0 version but still great.

Works well, just take care to allow drying time
Straightaway you should note these are the older first version of speed paint not the improved second one - hence the price. So unless you allow extra drying time some colours - especially red - can reactivate and bleed into new colours painted on them. That said with care these are excellent for batch painting and cranking out lots of figures in a short time, with great results for the average painter like me. There is a knack to pushing paint around rather than traditional painting, but once you get it speed and quality improves. I have used GW contrast paints whose are similar and have a wider colour range but are twice the cost and for my purposes give me much the same results. Note I have used matte vanishing and mixing the medium into acrylics, which greatly help with the reactivation issue - water is your enemy

Unbelievably good value now they're on sale
24 speedpaints for £48 on sale. That is £2 per bottle, less than half the price of Citadel Contrast paints. These look phenomenal on models with intricate detail, such as fur, bones, mandibles etc. They automatically flow into recesses and create a really effective shading, particularly on things like Tyranids or Skaven. Less useful for smooth armour, not ideal for Space Marine armour, as it can give an inconsistent look, and they're not ideal on top of a dark basecoat like black. However, for the price, ease of use and huge colour array in the kit, you really cannot beat these. Especially if you have a large job. I managed to get most of the Tyranid portion of Leviathan done to a good standard in under a day with these.

Great for exerienced painters and newbies alike
The Army Painter Speed Paint range is a life saver for getting models from sprue to table in a rush. The coveage is great and they react perfectly over a multitude of primer colours. Reasonably priced and offer great value for exerienced painters and newbies alike.

Great Paints, Great Quality
So I bought these on a bit of a whim. I'm not a miniature painter and tend to work on a larger scale. Mainly because at my age my vision isn't what it used to be. I'm a 3d model painter, so tend to work in the area between 80mm upwards. So I thought that this type of paint wouldn't really work well on the scale I normally paint at. Wrong! I must say I've been very impressed with the speed paints. They do a great job of hugging the details and enhancing them. On my rather gross Jack Pumpkin, I used the speed paint to paint the pumpkin body, the area around the eyes and mouth. Once dry they added some real detail to the recesses. I would really recommend these paints as they are of great quality and work just as described. An interesting point is that they come with a speed paint medium, which you use to thin the paints for light washes. While you can use water, I would recommend using the medium as it always seems to give a slightly better result. Thinning the paints is good, as they can dry with a slight glossy sheen. Which works great for some areas of a model and not so well with other. But on the whole, was an excellent whim purchase and I use these paints far more than I ever thought I would.

Does the job for mini painting
Good value and easy to clean up when finished. Good colour selection but unfortunately no metalics. Quick dry time and covers models well. Vastly different colouring depending on undercoat colour.

Great for applying washes that makes your models really pop!
These are NOT base paints. You cannot rely on these to cover a surface. However, they ARE great washes that bring out details instantly! A fantastic product, but you will need to basecoat your model first. They're also great for mixing with acrylics. I've mixed them with a little bit of matte white acrylic and that makes them pop really well. These are fantastic for bringing out details on miniature models. They've worked very well for my Warlord Games Black Sails model ships and I'm looking forward to testing them out on Warhammer 40K Tyranids! 10/10 would recommend. Just keep in mind, these are WASHES, not base paints. I recommend a basecoat of off-white, grey, or tan before you go ahead and apply these.

Great coverage and range.
Holy cow this comes with a lot of paints. The packaging is average at best, it comes in these thin plastic boxes which were all broken on arrival with the bottles all over the box turning it into a bulging mess. Luckily none were damaged. Packaging aside it’s a fantastic range for my needs. Which is quick slap chop models for fortnightly dungeons and dragons games. Almost over kill in range but the sort of collection you dreamed about as a kid.

Spillage of one of the bottle and the internal packaging does not secure the paint bottles
The paint works well so far with a try of 5 different colors. However, the packaging needs improvement as the bottles were scattered inside the box. Worst is one bottle has spillage, almost half a bottle gone inside and some of the bottle labels were stained with the spill.
