Nice door closer
This was my first automatic door closer install. I installed it as a parallel arm install on my 32" garage entry door that slams shut. Pretty straight forward but the one thing that could pose a problem that another reviewer mentioned would be mounting the main body to high on the door and not allowing the arm to clear the threshold. If I remember correctly the instructions say to mount the main body 3 3/4" from the underside of threshold. This wasn't enough clearance and would of caused the arm to hit the upper threshold and the door would be stuck open 12" or so. I ended up mounting it about another inch lower on the door than the 3 3/4" (so about 4 3/4" from the underside of the threshold). I caught it while mocking it up so I would suggest if you have not installed one of these to loosely attach the arm, plate and main body and put it up to your door to get the proper clearance for a parallel arm install. Other than that this closer is a nice piece of hardware. It does exactly what I wanted in not slamming the door shut but latching it properly when it does close. The individual latch/sweep/backcheck adjustments are great. I did have to lower the backcheck quite a bit to not make the door so hard to open. It matched our oil rubbed bronze hardware perfectly.

Good adjustments, wide opening range, 3 installation options
I installed one of these a few weeks ago, and it has been working well for us. It appears to be well built, with multiple adjustment options, and has a couple of important advantages over most of the in-line cylinder models. This closer can be installed using one of three different configurations, allowing the user to have it positioned either inside or outside of the doorway. I opted to install the unit so that is not visible from inside the room. For the option that I selected, the main body of the closer is attached to the exterior of the door, near the top, using 4 screws. The steel door has a relatively thin skin of sheet-metal, and 4 mounting screws provide a more substantial anchor than the 2 screws that many closers use. The arm of the closer is connected to a triangular plate that attaches to the upper door frame with another 4 screws, providing another solid anchor point. Another big advantage to this closer is the ability to allow the door to open far past the 90-degree limit seen with many other door closer systems. We have a linear in-line cylinder on a different door here, and it will not allow a full 90-degree opening. Due to the repeated stresses induced by people pushing that door open to the limit, the two door mounting screws have recently been pulled out of the sheet-metal skin of the door. I will soon be replacing that system with one of these Dynasty door closers.
