Great Gift
I bought this as a birthday gift for a co-worker who is also pursuing college studies in business. I don't want her to burn out! She was very touched, and said the book is "beautiful."

Sound advice for anyone, really!
I thoroughly enjoyed this read! I almost want to close all of the shades and turn-off the lights because the author is clearly looking into my life! I appreciated the focus on how we, women in general, are nurturers by nature, and this can sometimes lead to getting the scraps at the end of the day because all of our energies and focus were on others. One chapter that really resonated with me referenced being vulnerable. There's something to be said about the unintended consequence of being raised as a, "strong, independent woman", to the point it's almost a back-handed insult. The author discusses breaking out of this cold, shell-like exterior and unveil the softness inside. Softness inside does not equate to weakness! The chapters on emotional health and self care were spot on, but I definitely enjoyed the action steps to unveil who I am to others as well as to myself. I would definitely recommend this to some of my girlfriends!

inspirational
This book is great and providing great chunks of inspiration and knowledge for taking care of yourself as a black women. The cultural ethos that keep us behind and wound up no longe4 has to exist. The author reminds us that old ideas no longer have to rule our emotions. We are human and deserve care and love.

Emotional Self Care Importance
I teach the Women's Sunday School Class at my Church. We started this book at a time when emotions were running high all over the world. This book was a blessing to teach and a blessing to be taught so many things, most importantly, that it is ok to feel what you feel, because it is real, and that is the way God created us.Amen!Rev. Black women must read!
I have gifted this book to my daughter and friends. It will help you mentally, especially if you're stuck and can't move forward, it will make you jump hurdles. I could not put it down, I finished it quickly. It was a blessing! I wish I would have read it 40 years ago, but NO one cared about our mental health, a Black counselor, author is key whiling surrounded by false Stereotypes and image's of us; seek people that understand, others will try to medicate you. There wasn't a lot of help to make the black women whole, like it is now, so let's get healthy together and build an even stronger community, leaving noone behind. And, this book is a great start!
