Good security seal - Blister packs. Suitable for athletes with banned substance checks.
✅ As described and as advertised.✅ Well packaged - compact box with two blister packs.✅ Easy to read and understand dosage instructions, key ingredients and other key information eg vitamin C NRV.✅ Easy to swallow and no unpleasant aftertaste.✅ Not short dated - best before September 2023 - purchased April 2022 so more than a year on the best before clock.✅ Vegan friendly should you need it.✅ We are not professional athletes but should be these are tested for banned substances with every batch. For the average punter this is of little importance but critical for athletes being tested. We are unable to provide a meaningful quantitative assessment as to any noticeable health benefits - as no one can…. But we can confirm no noticeable adverse side effects e.g. no gastric upset/discomfort. Turmeric has a good reputation in multiple cultures for easing inflammation and we like to take this as an added health supplement.Like with most supplements you are taking it on good faith - we think these are worth a try if in your price range.

Pricey but quality...
Healthspan are one of the more trusted supplement companies and so the fact they'd do a tie-in with the All-Blacks isn't a total surprise but I'm not sure what benefits it is to users, we get a higher price and what else? This 'Opti-Turmeric' capsule claims to offer extremely high absorption of Curcumin (the active ingredient) in the body but they're basing that claim against taking pure Turmeric. Hardly any Turmeric supplements contain only the raw Turmeric, most have Bioperine or similar to increase absorption, so it's a spurious claim really. It might be slightly higher but probably not by much.So you get a high quality supplement nicely packaged and with a marketing link to the All-Blacks, there's nothing wrong with any of that but I'm not how much it's worth paying for it especially when you could have an equally effective Turmeric supplement (including from Healthspan) for less. You pays your money.

185x better absorbed is an expensive sales line
At 30 capsules for £14.99, with one to two capsules recommended per day, you get 30-60mg of curcuminoids in a liquid capsule that increases bioavailability by 185x according to the label.I will clarify: 30mg of curcuminoids per capsule. This is 500mg of NovaSOL curcumin, which is standardised to 6% curcuminoids. The bioavailability increase is dubious, because this is in comparison to taking straight curcumin with no other bioavailability enhancers, which almost no one does.Curcumin is well known for having very poor bioavailability, which is why it is often paired with bioperine, an extract from black pepper, which increases bioavailability of curcumin by 20x according to studies. Now, a typical bioperine x curcumin supplement provides 500mg of turmeric standardised to 95% curcumin, or 475mg of curcumin, alongside 5-10mg of bioperine. If you take the bioavailability enhancement of bioperine being 20x, that means a typical supplement is equivalent to 9,500mg of curcumin. If you compare that to this supplement, which only provides 60mg of curcuminoids in two capsules, then at 185x bioavailability, that works out to 11,100mg.That means this supplement is better than the traditional equivalent, but only marginally, and only if you take two capsules; it is 16.8% higher dosed, in equivalent bioavailability.Does a 17% improvement warrant a 100%+ increase in price for double the number of capsules? Again, it's a marginal improvement, but if price matters to you, then the advantage of this supplement over most others is minimal. At the end of the day, 185x bioavailability is a bit of a sales line, but it is not an equal comparison to competing supplements, because *no one takes curcumin by itself without an absorption enhancer*.But, while I am critical, the high dosage means it is very effective and does help relieve some symptoms of inflammation.I would hope that future formulations could increase the curcuminoid content to at least 100mg so that only one capsule would be needed, but currently I would recommend that you take the two capsule dosage of this (at a whopping £1/day cost per person).

Quality product and better value than you might think
This is an expensive turmeric product and my first assumption was that you were paying mostly for their partnership with the New Zealand rugby team. But plugging the numbers into my spreadsheet, which unravels the deliberately confusing labelling on turmeric products, I see that this is actually very good value even if we ignore bioavailability. The health benefits of curcumin are well established but it is well known that it has very low bioavailability. In other words most of it never gets into your system. This is why they usually add pepper and advise you to take itwith meals. This one claims a special formulation that boosts bioavailability. I have encountered one other product that does this (Longvida) and I had some discussion with the company and looked up their patent and it seemed quite likely that their method genuinely worked. I don't have quite so much faith in this one. Their product seems much more interested in the All-Blacks than in science, but it still stacks up as a quality source and deserves 5 stars in my estimation.

Good tablets
I didn't know the active compound in Turmeric, is called Curcumin.A turmeric supplement can help reduce arthritis pain, inflammation and improve your heart health and even symptoms of depression, apparently. These are good tablets, l think they are helping the pains in my feet, l have been taking them for a couple of weeks now, and l am sure l can feel a difference, l work in the catering industry and stand on my feet all day, l suffer with tendonitis but l'm sure the pain isn't as bad as it usually is after a 9 hrs shift.Little orange tablets of wonderfulness!!
