Wholetones: Calming & Soothing Music for Dogs

This CD has three repeats of the 20 minute Wholetones track that you can stream for Youtube. I'm not totally sure that it mesmerizes our dogs but this seems to be the canine equivalent of elevator music. We leave it looping when we're out of the house, our thinking is that if it masks enough of the random street sounds so that we don't have a canine chorus set off everytime someone's car alarm goes off then it's worth it.

My dog does not pant and shake when we put on this CD during thunder. She actually lays down beside me instead of pacing. I am only giving it 4 stars because the first 1min30sec is a bit too soft (she can still hear the thunder) and the play time is only 23 minutes. It would be nice if the music lasted an hour. As it is, we play it continually and fast forward through the first minute and a half.

The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because I cannot honestly say that it was effective for my dog’s anxiety. The sounds are very pleasant to listen to, kind of like spa music, minus the whales and waves crashing. Ha. Worked on my husband so, hey, four stars it is!

There are a lot of cd' s that claim to calm dogs. But the frequency is wrong. This CD is made in the correct frequency that does calm my maltipoo which happens to be a rescue. But not only her but myself included. Music is playing all day and night and I have noticed that she is definitely calmer. I did buy one a week before July 4th to get her used to it. So July 4th comes around and both Bela and myself were asleep at 8:30 Pm and we didn't wake up till 7am . Both of us slept through the 4th of July. This was what prompted me to buy a second CD for the car rides to the vet and groomer. If you have an opportunity to buy all 7 CD s it is truly money well spent. My dog h as separation anxiety and is extremely afraid of thunder, fireworks, gunshots, or any unusual loud noise. On one especially stormy night I played it softly all night and she finally relaxed and went to sleep with the help of the music, her thunder coat and medication. It's ok, but doesn't entirely do the job without the other interventions. I do play it daily while I am at work, but she has to stay in her crate lest anything startle her and she eats my venetian blinds.

Reading the reviews here and watching MICHAEL TYRRELL on YouTube... I played the YouTube ‘Open Door’ while I pet Giovanni (Geno) our big fluffy male cat in my lap.. As soothing as ‘Open Door’ is to listen to myself, I HUMMED the tune watching the Video of NASA in space while it was playing on YouTube and the petting of Geno SOON BECAME A SOOTHING MASSAGE for him... as my hands was, in a sense in sync, with the music.. The CD version is not the exact same music as the one selection on YouTube.. it’s close enough and GENO is getting the full benefit of a massage.. In fact Geno will meow his sweet voice when he wants me to follow him.. He leads me to the recliner chair, indicating to me it’s time to turn the CD player on for more massage.. So YES, I’m happy with the CD I bought.

Every animal shelter in the WORLD needs a copy of this to play for the animals - as well as every groom shop!!! My dogs immediately calmed down, my one cat LOVES this music - can't keep his eyes open when it is playing and sits in front of the player listening and sleeping. Gave my neighbor a copy for her rescued dogs and MIRACLES happened for them. Just took a copy to the gal at my groom shop to play, don't have feedback from her yet. WHOLETONES also sells a complete series of HEALING music along with a book that explains how the frequency of the music heals - I have the whole set and play at work and home. This music is very relaxing. I have a dog with isolation anxiety (can't be left alone), and we have been doing therapy with him. This music has become part of our daily therapy routine, and I think it helps him relax. I play it even when I'm home with him and we're not doing therapy exercises. Even the cat likes it, and gets all cuddly when it's playing. To the person in the review that said the play time is too short, I just put it on endless loop on my CD player. It'll go all day. A little on the pricey side, I think, but is exactly what I expected and hoped for. Came quick, good quality. I would buy again and recommend.
