Review: Five Stars - Such a great tool. Will make use of it almost every day. Nice sturdy and ergonomically friendly construction. Review: I'm usually making pasta for 2-4 people and its really easy to strain with this - I haven't used my large colander for a while because of this. I'm usually making pasta for 2-4 people and its really easy to strain with this. I also discovered that boiling vegetables and straining the 'stock' for later use is very easy. I can strain it right into a glass container that I can cool and let store. Previously I would try to place a bowl under the colander and hope that the water would mainly go in. Great for small straining, but I would still keep the larger colander for bigger pots. ## Features - PERFECT SIZE: Strainer is 9-1/2-inches, and the handle adds 6 inches. Let's find out!First I'll Measure the holes using a Drill Bit - 5/32 of an inch. About the size of a fat toothpick. The holes are round at the bottom of the colander but stretch a little to an oblong shape as they go up the sides.Next I'll pour in some dry uncooked rice. I have Minute Instant Whole Grain Brown Rice (Cooks in 10 Minutes) in the pantry. That'll have to do. I pour 1/4 cup of dry uncooked rice into the colander. I stir it and shake it around a bit. About 15 - 20% of it falls through. Now for the cooked rice. I follow the instructions on the side of the box.1 Cup Rice1 Cup WaterBoil for 5 minutes - Simmer for 5 minutesAt the end of the cooking time, I pour the rice into the colander and repeat the stirring and the shaking - no rice falls through. Not a single grain. So the answer to your question is YES - the holes in this colander are small enough to strain cooked rice without losing the individual grains.(That was fun - thanks for asking!) **Q: ATK recommends this colander, but I don't know which size. Is the 3 qt. big enough for most needs?** A: This is the medium size. Big enough for most needs, but not all. If you're cooking pasta for 2 or even 4, you're probably fine. If you're cooking pasta for 8, get the big one. I have all three sizes and use this one 95 percent of the time. **Q: Does the base, where the stand covers, also have holes?** A: Yes. The stainless ring is a thin ring holding the colander and it is solid so there wont be any leaking on the side of the bottom through the ring, but the base or inside between the ring, which is the bottom of the actual colander, has holes to drain through the bottom, between the solid ring that actually touches the surface that the colander sits on. **Q: where is it made? what is the country of origin?** A: There are no indications of the country of origin on the actual product. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars *by E***E on 8 May 2015* Such a great tool. But despite this I still like it. ## Frequently Bought Together - RSVP International Endurance Collection Pierced Crescent Pot Strainer, 14x75x2x75", 18/8 Stainless Steel - Westmark 16392260 Stainless Steel Pan Pot Strainer with Recessed Hand Grips Suitable For Up to 10" --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/407099188-rsvp-international-endurance-collection-pierced-crescent-pot-strainer-14x75x2x75-18](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/407099188-rsvp-international-endurance-collection-pierced-crescent-pot-strainer-14x75x2x75-18) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
