## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are the preferred rpm, feed rate, plunge rate so that i can configure my CAM software?**
A: I use trial and error on tapered BN bits as the geometry varies from the tip as you move up the bit. For 3d carving I will run a roughing pass first, then change to the TBN and start at about 2 IPS for both feed and plunge and move towards 3.5. I will start my rpms at 12k and go up or down. Whatever tip size, I generally use 10% stepover. As I run test passes on the wood type I am using I listen for any stress or chatter. As I finish the run and the bit stops spinning, I verify that it is not hot to the touch and finally view the test carve for results. Again, this is my process for any size TBN.

**Q: Is there a SpeTool database?**
A: Yes, there is just go to SpeTool website and you can download the database for Fusion 360, Vectric, and others there.

**Q: How many inches per minute do you run with this mill? my no load rpm available are 8,000-24,000 rpm. any suggestions appreciated**
A: I do 18000rpm in my cnc and find it leaves a nice cut on hard woods

**Q: What are the general speeds, spm, and depth for this bit for oak carving, for fine detail ? I am just starting out. Thanks for any info. jc**
A: I can't give any suggestions because I don't know what machine you have, spindle or router, horsepower nor it's rigidity.
