Q: What additional things do I need for embossing?

Don't really need anything else, other than the embossing plate. There are a lot of wonderful videos on You Tube. I found them to be very helpful.

Q: What is the difference between the black Tim Holtz model and the white and gray model?

I own the black one. I saw advertised the white one and it looks exactly the same to the one I got. So, I am not completely sure but I think it just the color?

Q: Does it do 3D embossing Folders?

Yes it works very well for making 3D Folders...make sure the card stock is thick enough...lighter weight papers will fall apart.... Great product That Iuse all the time. Purchased a less expensive model before and I can tell you Sissix is worth the extra $$$
