HDD is not working and dont know how I can get it replaced
The HDD was fitted to our DVR and the technician said it shows only 500 GB when it says clearly its 2 TB. I don't know how to get this fixed. There is no help at all. I am in Coimbatore and would be good to know where I go to hand this over and get a replacement. I think walking to a computer store nearby would have been better. Amazon needs to really look into these deals. I am surely not buying a HDD online in the future. The packing also was a bit suspect but I thought it was like that as it must have come from a wholesaler. I will take it to the service center once I locate one.

Best for Surveillance cameras
This is a surveillance centric HDD. Great for storing huge data continuously. Gives more than a month of surveillance footage for a 16 Camera system in Full HD.

Super Easy to Install & Works Like A Charm!
I needed to replace the 2 TB hard drive in my NightOwl 3 MP Surveillance Camera system, because the original hard drive quit recording after three years of service. I was on the fence about whether to invest my money into replacing the failed hard drive with this new Western Digital 4TB Purple hard drive, or spend a little bit more money, and replace the entire system. Since I’m not a Computer Tech by any means, the thought of ignoring the manufacturer’s warning labels against opening up the DVR case, and then then having to poke around with a screw driver, to uninstall the old, to replace with it with this new one made me nervous. I understand hard drives to be fragile, and the thought of handling these hard drives during the swap, was scary to me. I couldn’t afford to mess it up. Much to my surprise, it was an extremely simple task. I did watch a utube video on it beforehand, which did help me. It took more time to unscrew the DVR case, than than it did to swap out the parts. It’s just a matter of unplugging the old one, and plugging in this new one. Close the case back up, power on, and follow the on prompts in the screen. This 4Tb Western Digital Purple hard drive made especially for surveillance applications, installs itself from there. It was quick. It was easy, and it has performed. The best part is that it saved me money from having to purchase a whole new system. I’m very happy with my purchase. I believe it was money “well spent”, and I can highly recommend this Purple hard drive, with confidence. Thank you, Western Digital, for producing a quality product

Value. runs cool, and quiet. Poor logistics packaging.
Bought this months ago, writing review after letting the hard drive run for a while. It is by far the BEST drive I have had my hands on so far. It is extremely quiet in operation and runs so smooth and cool. This new drive replaces a 6 year old 7200rpm Sea gate that was running in a 4CH NVR on constant record 24/7 under mostly hot temperatures; after 5 years, it was running rough; had lots of vibration, and noisy - it did not fail (yet) - held up pretty good. Hope this one is same or better. Note: The new hard drive arrived wrapped in paper bubble envelope, which was then put into an Amazon jiffy bag - not the best packaging, but the seller had good intentions, but, wow, not sure why Amazon's final pack was in plastic bubble jiffy bag instead of a box, would you ship glass this way? (the seller and logistics should note: it is not cool to subject mechanical hard drives to physical trauma). Anyways, at $80cad it was a good deal, kind of explains for the high risks skimpy packaging. Luckily, for me the drive had no visible damage, and worked without issues so far.
