Wonderful!
This book is wonderful, the pictures are amazing. I've gone through looking at all of the pictures first and now going back to the beginning to read it while looking at the pictures again. The seller did a great job with the description of the book as well as shipping it out fast and packaging it to protect it. I highly recommend this seller and if your like ancient Egypt, the book also. Thank you.

Three thousand years, one camera, and a whole lot of gold
Some books tell you about Egypt. This one lets you stand in the tomb with a flashlight, sand in your shoes, and the uneasy feeling that a jackal-headed god is reading over your shoulder. National Geographic has been pointing cameras at Egypt for well over a century, and this book is a greatest-hits album drawn from that archive. There are pyramids at dawn and temple columns as thick as redwoods. There are painted tomb walls whose colors have outlived every empire since, and golden funerary masks staring back with that serene “I have seen pharaohs come and go” expression. Then there are the people: excavators in pith helmets, workers hauling stone, and modern scientists scanning mummies with machines that would have made Imhotep weep with envy. The gestalt is the real treasure. You can flip through and enjoy each photograph as a single beautiful object, but together they tell a story bigger than any one image. Ancient Egypt is not one moment frozen in sandstone. It is three millennia of builders, priests, kings, queens, farmers and embalmers, followed by two more centuries of explorers, archaeologists and photographers trying to understand them. The book captures both layers at once: the civilization and our long, obsessive love affair with it. Each picture is a single tile, and the whole makes a mosaic of eternity. You come away feeling the scale of time itself, from the first stones at Saqqara to Cleopatra’s last stand, with the camera lens as the newest offering laid at the tomb door. It is eclectic in the best way. One page has a grand aerial view of Giza, the next an intimate close-up of a carved scarab, the next a dusty dig-site snapshot from the 1920s. It is part history lesson, part art book, part time machine, and fully a coffee-table conversation starter. Sand keeps its secrets until a lens finds the gold, and the gods blink back. Five stars. Ra himself would approve, and he is very hard to impress.

Exquisite book
What a marvelous book, with stunning photos and interesting information. I had ordered several other "kids" books about Egypt for my 7 year old grandson. The formatting and illustrations were either challenging, for one reason or another, or woefully lacking. Finally I ordered this book. What a delight! He will LOVE it... now and when he's older. It will be a wonderful reference book all his life!

Absolutely awesome.
Okay so let’s be honest about what this is: a companion to Discovery Channel existing TV series available on Disney+. Accordingly, there’s a lot in this book that you’ll have already watched on tv, or vice versa. I learned about antique Egypt a while ago, when the field was dominated by non-Egyptian egyptologists. Egyptology has changed radically since, both in terms of content and philosophy… With this said, I bought this book for one purpose and it was to read it with my kid who loved the Disney+ programs. It did the job and I guess I’m content with this. Is that more interesting than books or even magazines written 30/40 years ago when that was no internet: no. Therefore, this isn’t a book I’d recommend to purchase if you’ve never read or watched anything else about pharaonic Egypt. Instead, I’d redirect you to searching second hand books written between 1970 and 1995.
