Effective against ants and other soft bodied insects. *Use caution with pollinators.
Usually the front yard is treated with insecticide, which is what I believe relocated or “herded” the ants into the vegetable enclosure. Who knew? It was recommended that I use Diatomaceous Earth as a perimeter barrier and also apply directly to any ant nests that have started to come up through the barrier cloth in the enclosure. I’ve never used Diatomaceous earth (DE) before, so at least now I’ll know first hand what all the hype is about and if it works. By the way, there are different “flavors” of DE and some are not for human consumption or even your yard. This one is of horticulture grade for both yard and bugs. It’s a super fine powder (like baby powder, but not as heavy as flour) that is off white in color. The powder is made up of crushed, sharp fossilized remains of algae and diatoms making it a chemical and synthetic free pest treatment. For “soft bodied” insects (like ants), any contact with the powder is akin to walking on broken glass that kills them. The DE comes in a decent size bag at a whopping 4 pounds that’s guaranteed to cover a lot of real estate and can be liberally applied to your yard without worry of running out. It does not smell, and it does not stain. Applicator is not included. For the applicator, I usually keep on hand a couple of old Kinder’s BBQ Sauce bottles. They are easy to clean, labels peel straight off without resistance, they have a wide neck for filling and is easy to squeeze as a sprayer. -You could also use a cheap turkey baster. For my problem, I simply sprinkled DE around the areas where the ants live and around each vegetable pot to take care of earwigs, beetles, tomato hornworms and army worms. As far as ants hills go, this is not an instant kill or kill on contact solution like Raid, so be patient. It took a little over 2 days and another dose of DE to completely rid the enclosure of ants. They are now permanently gone and have not moved back into the front yard. By the way, watch out for the wind when applying. Areas with flowering plants that usually have pollinators or attract bees, lady bugs, butterflies etc. need to be avoided as DE does not differentiate between good beneficial insects and bad ones. Since they are also soft bodied, this stuff will kill them. Just saying.Hopefully the ants have moved on to the back lot & I’m fine with that. This has worked for my ant and earwig problem. As for the tomato horn worm and army worms, they still take less time to identify and kill manually. There’s a lot of bang for your buck with this bag, and as gardeners we should be thankful for both the quantity and price. It’s a fantastic deal when compared to other brands. P.S. I did read somewhere that for hard to reach spots on plants, you can actually mix 4 tablespoons DE to 1 gallon of water to spray directly on your leaves. Anyway, as a pest control treatment, this is very effective for ants and earwigs. I can’t speak on other bugs yet since not a problem at this time. The volume and quality for the price point is a steal! Go for it 5 stars!

Best treatment for fleas!
I'm going to be honest, i got this for a flea problem in my house and it worked like a charm. It is completely pretty safe. Dust the dog with it. Put it on every surface in your house. It had a very faint dust smell. Powder is very very fine, to the point i can't stop sneezing, but it's worth it. The dust cuts up fleas like rolling them in broken glass. A week or less of powder and fleas are gone. Super cheap, safe, easy to use. Try it.

Excellent natural solution that actually works
I was first recommended diatomaceous earth by a few parents in my homeschool group after we moved into a new home and quickly discovered we had a major ant problem. Our entire yard seemed to be home to every kind of ant imaginable—red ants, black ants, tiny ones, large ones—literally everywhere.I completely understand that ants are part of the ecosystem, and I don’t mind them being in the yard or garden. The problem was when they started coming into the house. With two small children, there are always crumbs here and there no matter how careful we are, and the ants were just relentless indoors. We tried hiring an exterminator, which cost us around $300–$400, and while it worked temporarily, the ants were back within about six months. That’s when I decided to try diatomaceous earth instead. We started applying it in discreet areas around the house and problem spots, and honestly, it has worked wonders. It has been far more effective for us than the professional treatment we paid for. The difference is that with this, we can reapply as needed and stay on top of the problem ourselves.I also purchased a simple powder duster (one of those air puffer applicators), which makes it much easier to distribute the diatomaceous earth evenly and in tight spaces. That has made a big difference in how effective and clean the application is.Since using it, we’ve seen a huge reduction not just in ants, but also in other pests like spiders and centipedes. It has helped us keep the entire home much more comfortable and under control. We’ve even started using it outside in areas where ants tend to gather, like around our fire pit, certain garden beds, and near the compost bin. It has continued to perform really well in those outdoor spaces too.Overall, I highly recommend diatomaceous earth. It has been a simple, affordable, and very effective solution for us, especially compared to repeated exterminator visits.

Great at limiting fungus gnats in indoor plants
This product does exactly what it says it will do. It is great at limiting the amount of fungus gnats in your soil and has proven to be good quality. This bag will last you a lifetime if using on indoor plants. It has the consistently of powdered sugar so be cautious when opening the bag. Overall great value and gets the job done when used correctly and consistently. There is zero smell from this product.

Safe and effective insect control.
This product has made a real difference in insect control. It has no scent and is completely safe for pets and humans. It can be messy but it is worth it. I dust the area around pet dishes and ants stay away. It controls insects in the garden very well.

Garden and plants pest control
it is a little messy and it’s not easy to . It has no odor as long as you have the proper tool for application. It works great. It was a great value for the price. I always use gloves for safety. safety reasons I would not recommend using on a windy day. but it definitely takes care of the insects. I would recommend this.

The bugs don’t stand a chance
The powder floated through the air like fairy dust, but make no mistake—this wasn’t a bedtime story for the bugs. It was a dry, gritty death sentence. Even the darkest, webbiest nooks were treated with the kind of dramatic flair usually reserved for haunted house cleanups. After dusting all air vents from the basement up, there was no safe passage left for anything with more than six legs.Outside, it went along the mailbox post, tucked into patio cracks, and spread like a silent protector across garden bed perimeters. Ants? Gone. Roaches? Nowhere in sight. Spiders? Judging by the silence, they’ve either relocated or joined witness protection.💚 What Absolutely Rocks:Natural but ruthless: Made from food-grade diatomaceous earth, it’s the eco-warrior of pest control. Harmless to humans (when not inhaled!) but lethal to bugs by pure dehydration.Total home defense: Indoors, outdoors, baseboards, flowerbeds—it’s a multi-zone battle shield. Even after a drizzle, the barrier held firm.Easy to apply: The shaker-style tub deserves applause. No messy spills, just controlled dusting with surgical precision… or chaotic flinging, depending on the vibe.Quiet but effective: No harsh chemical smells, no greasy residue—just a fine powder doing its job in silence.⚠️ Tips from the Trenches:Wear a mask. Seriously. The powder is fine enough to form its own weather system.Be ready for some cleanup—especially if enthusiasm leads to "powdering" stored items in the basement.Doesn’t work instantly, but when it kicks in, it’s devastating (sorry, earwigs).

Good delivery but product wasn’t fully effective
Got the product in time from distributor but this thing did not really kill ants in my Bonsai garden

Don't know
Tried using this and did not work for me. The ants just walked over it and did not care. It is also messie so not recommending it to anyone. My purpose was small ants.
