Fixed a jacket without replacing the zipper!
I bought this after watching a YouTube video of a woman replacing a zipper box. I also bought the 8 piece Loyanger Mini Pliers Set, which I recommend. Spending $20 for both, I fixed a beloved high school state championship jacket for my kid. 100% worth it. These metal pieces seem to be of decent quality. The color choices were nice. I made a mistake on the first try and it was tough getting the new zipper box off of the jacket. So...I used two of the bunch, and both could handle firm crimping with the pliers without breaking. And, it was tough to pull off. If it does come off, I know how to fix it and I'm not worried about it. I did use a dab of super glue under the crimped part. Do a dry run with your zipper before crimping it on. We thought that one size was the right one, until we did the test. The correct size was actually the one slightly smaller. The dry run also shows you where the bottom of the box should be before crimping it on. That's how I messed up the first one - the zipper teeth weren't lined up correctly. The second time, I was more aware of where the bottom of the box was (maybe a half of a millimeter off the first time). So, first time around wasn't a quick repair. Most of the time spent was just figuring out how to do it. But, know that we know how, it is very easy -- and we have the tools!

Did not work for me, but I did not have zipper pliers
I tried to use the #5 size bottom box stop on a fleece sweater that had lost it. It seemed like the correct size for the zipper and was good quality metal. I did not have the zipper pinching pliers used in online videos showing zipper repair. I used needle nose and regular pliers. I could not get a good, even pressure on the stop and the zipper would not fit down over the top of the stop. I tried crimping it more and could force the zipper on to it a bit, but the bottom stop got kind of mangled and I gave up. The stop broke as I was removing it, but I had bent it a lot. I think the other parts, such as the top small zipper stops, will be useful for replacing worn or broken zipper pulls, and maybe I'll buy the zipper pliers if I need to do the bottom of a zipper again.

Love The Different Sizes
A friend had his jacket zipper messed up and needed a replacement. I took the jacket to Joann's and they tried to tell me there was no way to fix it other than taking off the whole zipper and buying a new one. I didn't believe them, and I'm glad I chose to come here to find a solution. I thought a lot about which set to get, and this one had a multitude of sizes, which I felt was very important since I needed the right size zipper but wasn't sure what that was. It was nice to be able to try different ones on first to see how they fit. They were pretty easy to use even without instructions. I was able to fix the zipper with just some superglue. It works no problem and the quality is surprisingly good. Very happy.

Needed ONE piece out of kit, but solved the problem in about 2 minutes.. will save the rest of the kit for future needs... less than $10 for the kit versus $30 PLUS for zipper replacement, and at LEAST a 2 week wait...๐ค๐ค๐๐
