Living in Michigan, we wanted a backup heat source for those times when power went out and our furnace wouldn't run. We also like to burn wood in our wood stove on chilly nights when we watch TV. The heat is pleasant and soothing.Burning damp wood leads to creosote buildup in your chimney, so I wanted to be sure anything I burnt was nice and dry.The Tacklife meter really makes the task of checking moisture in your firewood easy. The meter readout is large and easy to read and I can check a few pieces of wood in just seconds. There are 4 wood types you can pre-select for the best reading or use the '3' setting for general use, which works fine for me as my wood is already split and from various sources, so is hard to identify. I just need a relative reading for my use.I like that the meter has an auto-shutoff after 10 minutes, as that really saves battery life.This is a great little meter and will help protect my wood stove and chimney. Junk, would not recommend

Fortunately I wasn't in a hurry for the meter. It arrived, I'm thinking, via a slow boat from China. Thus 3 stars. It meets the product description. As for its accuracy I have no idea. Have to trust the manufacturer's claim. Same goes for all other moisture meters. But I plan to compare it to others when possible.
