WORKHORSE! A SURVEYOR'S MUST HAVE!
I am a land surveyor in the southeast coast of NC. The woods here vary from light brush and tipping limbs to HEAVY, THICK, bays to swampy, vine filled wetlands. I have until now used either a Council Bush Axe or a cheap $20-$30 machete from the local stores. I "finally" decided to do quite a bit of studying for the best deal on a below $100 machete. After 2 months of research and reading reviews, I opted for the Condor Viking. I received it today. First impression: Wow! This machete is not made for cutting grass on a Sunday every 3 months behind the shed although I am sure it would do that nicely as well. The Viking is made for the long haul, 40 hr. a week, destroying anything in its path. The blade was past my expectations of sharp straight out the box. I immediately went outside and cleared the brush, up to 2" thick and a few 3"+ small trees that needed to go. The end is a little heavy for "once a month warriors" but perfect and balanced for making quick progress at clearing a path. One of the real bonuses of this machete is the double edged hook on the end. Will slice right through heavy vines and also serves to pick up cut brush and limbs and toss them to the side. Also, the 3 grooves on either side of the 3/16" blade allows the 1075 steel to flex and bend without breaking. The walnut handle is beautiful although sanded quite smooth so I will be wrapping it with grip tape but my hands sweat and would have done that with any of them. Sheath is good quality leather although it will work great without the bottom of 3 snaps. All in all, 5+ stars to Condor for craftsmanship, versatility, and usability and 5+ stars to this seller. I ordered it Wed. evening and received it Friday midday. Lastly, although I am not a zombie hunter, if you are looking for a "one swing and cut his head off" machete, be sure to hold the handle tight because when it comes out the other side of his/her neck, it is still gonna be moving and you don't want to take your leg off on the downswing. Thanks to the maker and seller for a wonderful buying experience. Both of your names will be spread positively to anyone I encounter. Have a great day!

Beast of a Machete
I have always like the panga style machetes. They are extremely usefull. This is not very fast in hand, even for a brute like myself, however it is hard hitting tough steel and typical Condor quality. My grind was very straight, symetrical, well done and sharp out of the box. Be very careful swinging this around this will bite. I do wish it had a lanyard hole, but not a deal breaker for me. I'm going to texture my handle with a file. You will find out quick when you use it that you will want to do something with makeing the handle grippy.

Best Machete
I collect machetes and knives and I test a lot of them. I must have about twenty machetes. Hands down, this is the best machete I own. I bought several of them. They have a long reach and it's thin enough to work on vines and has enough weight and strength to cut tree branches, especially ones that are hard to reach. However, these machetes, have a convex grind or what they call a teardrop shape. To properly sharpen them, you need a small belt sander like those made by Worksharp. A convex grind blade can only be sharpened correctly with a belt. You will not be able to sharpen it with stones, rods, or any other sharpener you may had. It also takes some practice and a good eye to use a belt sander.

Heavy duty machete that badly needs hole for wrist strip
If your current machete does not have the required heft to cut through branches with one strike, then this is the tool for you. The blade is significantly longer and heavier than any other Condor machete I have used, it is very sharp, and it holds an edge well. All of the Condor machetes are excellent and well worth the money. The momentum will cut through 2 to 3-inch diameter woody plants with ease. I am using it to cut down mature artichoke thistle plants with a diameter of 3 inches or more. However, because of its weight, the machete can get away from you and fly across the ground. That could cause a serious accident given how sharp the blade is. The handle is not thick enough for me to get a good grip, so I wrapped the handle with nylon cord. That helped a lot. Unfortunately there is no hole in the handle to attach a wrist strap, which is really needed. Because of the full-tang construction and heat-treated carbon steel, it is very difficult to drill a hole through the handle; buy a 1/4-inch carbide drill bit specifically designed to drill through heat-treated metal. The leather holster is nicely made. It is a hassle to get the machete in and out of the holster, because the blade is wider at the bottom than near the handle. However, it is worth the work if you need a machete with this level of cutting power.

Conquistador of blades.
Great, this machete is awesome. Be careful unwrapping it since it is sharp. Alot of pride has been taken into putting this together. I wasn't sure if to hang it up or start putting to the test against a large tree limb that fell in my yard a few days ago. I put it to the test and oh boy did it pass with flying colors. The tree limb was alittle over 4 inches wide with alot of branches. I cut all the thick branches of and then the limb it self. A few soft swings and once I had a decent groove I went at it. Make sure to wear eye protection cause the wood chips go flying everywhere. My next purchase might be one of their hatchets. I feel that this blade could of been sold for so much more. Even the sheath or blade cover is great. Made of thick leather with belt attachment.

CONDOR tool and knife machete
Really nice, especially with leather cover. Great to cut palm leaves and general cutting tall shrubs. Awesome performance, grip is nice easy to control while cutting, weight helps for heavy palm limps. Really love the size and thickness.

Slick handle
Very sharp and Beautiful craftsmanship with a smooth slick handle on a forward heavy blade. It wants to (and did 😳) jump out of my hand… Still at the ER now. It’s definitely user error, but I’ll add some texture to the handle and a lanyard before using it again.

Whoa mama!
UPDATED REVIEW: I’ve really had time to use this Condor Viking Machete and it is by far my favorite. I live in the dense jungles of Alabama. You everything from sawbriar vines to saplings to blackberry thickets and honey locust trees. The extended reach and thinner blade makes this a superior tool in my book. Other reviews say the blade isn’t balanced but it is, it’s just a big blade. It feels like an extension of your arm and that’s how a good machete should feel. There is only one complaint and that is that there is no lanyard hole. I need a lanyard because if you actually use this tool you will sweat and the hardwood handle gets slick. I plan on getting some grip tape when I can. But I feel like I know machetes since I’ve been chopping heavily for thirty years. This is a really great one and we’ll worth the price. This is the kind you wind up sharpening until it’s worn to a nub or you’re too old to chop. It will last forever. A word to the wise. A lot of the reviews mention how dangerous this machete is and they all are but as baby comes sharp and if you are inexperienced or fancy yourself a zombie killer…maybe don’t try to use this one. Just hang it in the wall. One miswhack and you will be headed to the ER. Seriously, be careful. If you have much chopping or hacking or if you have some property you owe it to yourself to get this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This actually isn’t the biggest machete I’ve ever swung. But it’s as big as I want to handle. It’s a Condor, that means sharp, well made, excellent sheath. Everything I get from Condor will last a lifetime. The only thing I can find about this thing is the handle is slick. I need grip tape or pine rosin before I get too busy. I love Condor. They ship super fast and their products are second to none.
