Have You Gone To a Fish Fry For Fish Sticks?
I'll cut straight to the chase and try not to be long winded here. This book, while it has a positive vibes, is not biblical. Parents like myself, get books like these to offer some colorful & palatable child exposure to Bible stories. Many Bible stories have multi layered depth and wisdom, naturally you can't expect young children to grasp it all, but at the very least you give them the entire story...or a softened version. This book seems to have been written by someone who didn't actually read the story of Deborah and tried to finesse a story real quick, which is highly disrespectful in my opinion. Yes the ending of the Story of Deborah, when you talk about the heroic act of Jael can be considered graphic depending on a parent's personal perspective, but it's no different than watching a comic based film and seeing a villain die. The life of Deborah is a historical even in which God's will is exhibited...it's a powerful piece of history, that must not be compromised. I thank the author, because now I understand that it's better to just read the actual story from the Bible and allow the pictures to be drawn within the minds of the child. Smh...said I wasn't going to be long winded but I love God and His word as well as the historical significance of each event within the pages of the Bible.....don't buy this book....it's well put together, the pictures are beautiful, the vibe is nice, but again it's not worth the money for what it's marketed as. It's like going to a place that has a sign that says "Fish Fry" but you go in and they're serving fish sticks.....granted, fish sticks are nourishing too, but it's not a Fish Fry.
