Like the headline says this is being used for a special project which so far this thing is kick butt! The two-speed feature is awesome. It's like having a snatch block built in. For my application I replaced an electric winch with this hydraulic one. The high speed just about matches the electric winch and also matches about the same line pull. Put it in low and this thing really comes on strong. Add a snatch block and this thing really starts ripping parts off.

Hydraulic winches versus electric? Hydraulic winches require more components but in the end game you will have a system capable of doing any job the right way every time. These winches can also be found used and are still better than any electric set up. Considering the times these winches will be used with many times being far from civilisation hydraulic is again the best as they rarely ever break down ever! A person can use a simple power steering pump to operate them when done properly saving a ton of cost. Electrics are cheaper but most winches sold today come from overseas and we all know quality isn't job one on any of them. Have a professional install the winch and make sure to purchase the proper gear to use with the winch and you will be a super happy camper. I write this comment because I was in the towing industry most of my adult life and have seen how dangerous electric winches can be due to shoddy construction methods. I have purchased probably 15 of this winch using our own hyd control system with pressures set at around 2000 psi or better giving us around 16,500 lbs of pulling power. We’ve never had a failure in over 10 years of intermittent usage. These are self recovery winches for us. !!!!!The steel rope can not be used with anything but stock pressures!!!!!!!!
