Even the keys which look small in the description are actually pretty beefy. Also, there's nothing else out there can do this very specific application, which is to lock (by key, not just an interior latch) a barn door that's butting up to a wall, or another door. That being said, this installation is not for the faint of heart! I first read the horror stories in the reviews and knew I needed to get the right tools, take my time and practice. For this I used mainly a plunge router and caliper (for measuring), along with the usual set of drill/drivers, wood clamps, extra wood, marking pens, etc. You may need a hacksaw or angle grinder to shorten the metal flat turning shaft, as it comes long to adjust for door thicknesses. I've never used a plunge router with mortising bit before but I decided to learn and bought a cheap set from the local chain budget tool store just for this task. Perhaps you can rent, borrow or get used. You need to make a 2.25" plunge cut so the mortising bit needs to be long enough. Then I practiced on a piece of 2x8 as shown in the photos. Don't even bother looking at the single sheet instructions, it will just confuse you. Watch all the videos you can find about plunge routing mortises. As for the product, the quality is excellent, and not just for the price. I'd pay double for the same product, but the seller should really warn buyers to have them professionally installed or post a video on a how to. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/40450772-ccjh-sliding-door-locks-invisible-door-locks-wooden-door-lock](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/40450772-ccjh-sliding-door-locks-invisible-door-locks-wooden-door-lock) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-28*
