Replaced a gaming chair piston and was much easier than expected and works better than when new

I had an office chair from OfficeMax that was slowly bleeding down. This part fixed it. I did have to resort to some tools many homeowners won’t have. I had to use a big pipe wrench to get the top loose from the seat mount and a big hammer to drive the cylinder out of the base. Price is great! High quality! Has a huge lift, like feet off the floor height! Immediate shipping!

Bought replacement to fix favorite realspace desney chair I had bought to work from home during pandemic. I am a big guy 6'3 375, and the cylinder for the chair gave out, it had been out a while. Decided to take a look at replacement cylinder to fix rather than replace favorite chair. First of all the hardest part about replacing cylinder was removal of cylinder. The following is soe advise to do so. You will need a rubber mallet or hammer. WD-40 and a pipe wrench. 1. Spray wd-40 around base of chair where cylinder connects to base. let sit overnight if possible. 2. To remove cylinder from bottom of chair use pipe wrench grip firmly a couple of twists later top part of cylinder is removed from chair. 3. turn base over use square wooden block over the base part of the cylinder sticking out the bottom of base. And hammer out. 4. After old cylinder is out line up new cylinder remove cover at top before sliding into the bottom of seat Just some advice to help anyone out there, Like i said I am a buy guy pretty sure the old cylinder was pretty in there. New cylinder appears to be sturdier and higher for sure. Chair is comfortably at typing height on kitchen table. Would definitely buy again.

I used this particular cylinder to replace the leaking one on my 6 year old Serta "Big & Tall' office chair. Removing the old cylinder from the chair base was the hardest part, but after reinstallation it worked perfectly... almost! The only downside is that the chair sits almost as tall as it did on the new lowest setting as it did on the medium/high setting on the original. That being said, i cannot lower it to push it under my desk anymore, and fully extended, my feet are easily off the ground (im 6'2") Not a huge downfall, but be sure to measure your original cylinder size before ordering a new one if you want to retain the original height and settings. That being said, it really is a good, high quality piece that fit the base of my chair perfectly. I just wish it sat a little lower, but i can live with it versus replacing my chair completely.

Before attempting to replace this cylinder search YouTube for "chair replacement cylinder or height adjustment cylinder" and watch these videos. This will make the job a bit easier. I have to replace the cylinder on a Bayside office chair and it was on "hard and tight". I had to use a black smith hammer and heavy duty pipe wrench to get it off. But it did come off nice neatly after some arm wrestling. Just follow the videos and use leverage and common sense.

Works Perfectly, might need a pipe wrench to get the old cylinder off the base. But aside from that everything fit together like a glove. Well-made and definitely easy to put together for a beginner.

Installed same day. Fit perfectly on my N-Gen chair. So far So good will update if any issues arrive but it's working. Worth the price.

Great weight support but locked low height will be trouble for short people.

Hola, he comprado este cilindro para una silla que compre y me llego sin cilindro, ya puse este cilindro y no se si no le quedo o lo estoy instalando mal pero no hace la elevacion. Le mando fotos para que me indique si estoy haciendo algo mal o es que no es de la medida para la silla. (Creo que debo quitarle ese como tapon verde pero no quiero hacerlo sin estar segura).

Arrived with no instructions - I googled it to find out how to remove old cylinder and installed this new one....ended up with a chair that does not adjust in height or bounces a bit for a soft landing. At least it does not shrink down when I'm working on it. I bought a more expensive version so I was hoping for better. At least it swivels and is set a height I can use - and the white trim matches the chair. Disappointed with Staples for selling me a chair that had a hydraulic that wore out within a year and not impressed with the replacement I purchased here for more money.
