Josh's Frogs Freshly Started Flightless Golden Hydei Fruit Fly Culture

The culture was new so it took about ten days to reach a harvestable density, but that was expected.

I’m extremely happy with the size of this culture for the price. It is much larger than what is generally available at my local stores, as well as being a different variety than locals carry- most of my local stores only stock melangaster which are on the small side for most of my spiders, and results in me going through cultures quicker than I would like.Even though I ordered the “freshly started” option, my culture arrived already producing some which was a great surprise for me as the culture I purchased most recently from a local store failed pretty quickly. Because of this, I was able to feed a small amount from this culture while still leaving plenty to continue producing.I’ve never been disappointed by an order from Josh’s Frogs and will continue to order from them when I need feeders that I can’t find in my area!

Wood fiber completely saturated in media. Media had a rancid smell like it was spoiled rotten. No adult flies ever developed and all the larvae died before maturing. As bad as it could have been honestly

The media could not be loaded. I've just received the package, and I was so happy to see so many happy and ready to be eaten lol. These fruitflies arrived full of life, and there were plenty of them in the package. I did ask for the starter culture but it's okay because I was desperate for food for my baby.I have a rescue Eastern Fence Lizard, who is just over a month old, and she's been having a blast chasing these little critters around and enjoying her meals. They're the perfect size to coat with calcium powder, and their decent size means that fewer of them fill her up nicely. I can't recommend Josh's Frogs enough for providing healthy and fantastic feeder insects. These fruitflies have exceeded my expectations, and I'm genuinely grateful for such a reliable source. Golden Hydei are not flightless as claimed. A few escaped and are now flying around. Other then that fast shipping and everything looked good

MY frogs,lizards are so happy chaising the flruit flys and goobling them. so it keeps them busy and eating well thanks to joshes frogs.also when i thought the producing was dead, after about 3 days they were very prolific. Josh's Frogs produces the BEST OF THE BEST!!!!! before i realized the fruit flys were live, I messaged that the producing fruit flys were dead, the ones that were new were ok. joshes frogs sent both to me priority mail to my door.

Do you see all of those white dots? Those are ALL mites. There are so many half of the medium is dead mite bodies! I can't use this for a culture at all. It's completely overrun with grain mites. :(
