5500-L-W 12" Illuminated Curved Assist Bar

The original lighted entry handle for my 2007 Newmar Essex was beginning to exhibit cracking. This replacement unit is identical in form and fit as the original. Only adjustment needed was to grind down the lower end of the plastic bar to ensure alignment of the lower bracket with the existing holes. Otherwise, a simple remove and replace activity. I did use epoxy to fill the original screw holes in the fiberglass to ensure a tight grip for the new mounting screws. I also put strips of sheet metal behind the top three holes to give the screws a better bite/hold where the most strain will be if someone pulls themselves up the steps with the handle. Handle is really meant for steadying oneself when climbing the steps into the coach, but not everyone recognizes this, thus the extra metal behind the fiberglass/plywood until the entrant can be educated.One detractor is the LED lamp is not plug and play replaceable. If the LED lamp burns out, a replacement lamp would require splicing in a new lamp. As such, I saved the socket and bracket from the old unit in the event the LED burns out prematurely. No reason to believe it will not last for the life of the coach, but no reason to discard something so small and easy to retain either. Cheap insurance...

Fit perfectly and easy to install!

I just removed the bottom bracket and stuck this into the top bracket then installed the old bracket back on. Not as much resealing doing it this way.

Work great. Easy to install. Light bright.

I had to grind the acrylic tube on both ends so that the existing holes on our 2002 Fleetwood Discovery would align. The upper bracket had 4 holes instead of the original 3. Otherwise both brackets covered exactly the same spots like the original handle. Unfortunately some of the screws were missing in the box.Unfortunately, the LED light quit working after less than 1 hour. Received replacement which was dead upon arrival, LED never worked
