Seller claims this protection amulet is an antique (pre-1800). I have not seen one like it or even one that is similar, which is indicative of an authentic antique. Also this is a particularly beautiful jade stone of deep reddish amber, with a golden streak running from top left to bottom right. Good jade is dense, and this carving weighs 1.7 ounces, a figure that indicates quality jade. I mounted the carving with a gold plated bail and fashioned the 22.5 inch necklace from 8 mm red jadeite beads, 1 mm gold filled spacer beads, 14 mm yellow-amber agate beads, 3 mm gold filled beads, and a gold plated (lead free) brass toggle clasp. The carving is large, 2 5/16 x 1 7/8 x 1/4 inches. This gorgeous protection amulet is gleaming with amber and gold tones, making it a one of a kind, rich and beautiful unisex necklace.
