Religion of Peace?: Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't

Great book full of things that I didnt even know about especially about Christianity and how much the Roman Catholic Church supported and continues to support the pursuit of scientific discovery despite what we've all learned in school which was taught in an anti catholic anti christian bias, which as A Christian I myself didn't even realize, no one taught the truth of the trial of galieos and the church that the pope supported him and his theory but said they needed more proof before it could be stated as fact in a book but the disagreement was not on the idea and theory itself but on its presentation for when he presented it as a known fact instead of a theory that needed more proof at the time, the actual theory was embraced by the church, but the disagreement was over his book which he had been told not to state it as fact yet and he did state it as fact and the entire history of science this is the only case of the church undermining science, the church actually supported the pursuit of science, while the Muslims were against technological innovation because of religious beliefs, for example the printing press, they did not and forbid the use of the printing press because they thought it would corrupt the sacred quranic writings and other books which had to be copied by hand so the advancement of easily copying books and passing on knowledge in the muslim world didn't happen, there were many other things like this which hampered and stopped the Islamic empires advancement and made for its decline all due to religion, while the muslims jihad of war which began with Mohammed continued began to be pushed by back advancements in technology by the christian west who was defending itself and eventually subduing them after world war one and breaking up the caliphate of the ottoman empire of which the first public clock in a muslim country wasn't allowed until the mid 20th century. Jihad continues to be a core teaching of Islam and to a muslim peace can come only when the entire earth is submitted to the god of Islam by any means possible then and only then will peace come and due to the massive amount of oil wealth that has been flowing into the Islamic world, there is an Islamic revival and thus a Jihad revival to overcome the evil Christians, jews, and basically everyone who is not a muslim, while the Christian western Judeo-Christian mindset is Peace is when everyone compromises and gets along and lives together, with freedom to practice ones own religion with modern democratic principles of which can not exist for a good muslim due to their doctrines. One worldview is forgiving and one is dictatorial and unforgiving.

I find Mr. Spencer's books exceptionally enlightening and each one has been a page turner for me. As a published Schiffer Military History author/biographer of WWII, I have spent a lot of time in Germany and interviewing German veterans. The highlight of my life was meeting many times with the late Manfred Rommel, who helped me in my first book. His insight into the evil of the Third Reich, the insidious changes in the German society....well, dear folks....we have it again. The Propaganda ministry: abc news and cnn & company are telling us, as has the President - Obama and Bush - that Islam is the Religion of Peace. I read the Koran for myself in the spring of 2013 and I opined that 'it ain't" the religion of peace! To the contrary, I found Mr. Spencer is, once again, on the spot with this book. It is a fast read, like listening to a conversation of Christianity and Islam...chapter titles: No Virginia, All Religions Aren't Equal; We Have Met the Enemy and He Is.....; The Real Threat; Cherry-Picking in the Fields of the Lord; The Cross and the Sword, Christian Anti-Semitism vs islam "Apes and Pigs" (Yes folks this is indeed you and me!!)'' The West Calls for Dialogue; Islam Calls For JiHad; Faith and Unreason; Women in the West vs Burquas and Beatings; Yes, Virginia, Western Civilization is Worth Defending!" The Koran is filled with the worst kind of hate speech, but why do Muslims get angry when you read the Koran? It is totally foolish argument that one must read it in Arabic. I mean reading "kill the Jew, kill the Christian", blasphemers, God has no need of a son!" etc etc. is pretty clear to me translated....so in Arabic these words translated would "NOT" say kill the Jew, Kill the Christian? I don't think we need to worry about translations! AND for us women?! Pull your head out of your burka - baby .. well, I suppose that would get a woman killed in many religion of peace countries. Second only to Mein Kampf (My struggle) by Adolph in Jew hate, calls for Jew killing, and us Christians? We are right behind in line as are the other non-Muslims which I wish to change to us FREE PEOPLE of the WORLD. When the news media says Jesus is mentioned in the Koran - oh, that's okay if you only believe he's a prophet only. Not Divine, Not Crucified and not Arisen. Otherwise, same old blaspheming on Christians again. This is not a bad read, however not Spencer's finest work. It is a very useful source for those entering this area of debate. Triggered Islamophiles will hate this book and I have no doubt will form a substantial part of the negatively critiquing comments.

This is well written and well research book with an important message for all those who love freedom and life. Ignore the few negative reviews -- they are clearly meant to be malicious and posted by those who care nothing for truth and reason.

This book has incredible detail and obvious attention to avoid bias. Spencer brilliantly argues the case of intolerance seen in fundamental and literal Islam, which clearly separates it from Christianity. It is clear that countless hours of research had been put into this book. Well done.

As a Christian, I enjoy keeping up on the written text and this was a well written book!

A must read.
