The nib is smooth and glides easily across the paper. It has an excellent weight to it and is easy to grip. I wrote two lengthy letters and it didn't cause my hand or fingers to cramp up. There isn't a rubber grip on it, but it's not needed. The pen fits nicely in my hand and is well balanced. The cap snaps on firmly. The cartridges are easy to change. If you use the refillable converter that comes with the pen you will need to purchase well ink separately. I love the fine print you can do with this, and it doesn't blob ink, has a good heft in hand. Nice looking pen, especially for the money. *Update: been using this for 2 weeks now. Really like it, it's so smooth. Used up a reservoir of ink already in it, so you can see it goes a long way, since I use it daily for my notes. Really nice feature to be able to refill it, has a nice sliding switch to suck up ink. If they wanted to put this pen in a high dollar metal, it would probably sell very well, even though the metal isn't real silver, it still looks nice.

Gift for the wife - she's enjoying it. I looked at the bamboo and wood pens, but they're all so phat. This is slim and elegant. If it only lasts a year, probably still a good deal.
