Misleading or Incorrect Info in Reviews
I've read a few negative reviews where people seem to be unclear about what this is and how it works. Anyone who is unsure can look up "silicon controlled rectifier" for detailed info. If your going to hook this up to 120 you will get half the usable range from the pot ( 5-10 instead of 1-10). That's normal and you can fix it by replacing 500k pot with a 200k 2W one. Bezos can hook you up. Keep in mind this is a $20 item. No one in their right mind should expect continuous duty from it and its not a good choice for applications where safety is a concern. You may get a bad one out of the box, just send it back. That being said it works well for around the house applications. I've used it for controlling hot plate temp. and slowing down constant speed power tools and I've been satisfied. By the way, its single phase only and if your confused about that you shouldn't be messing with electricity.

Works fine!
Works great! Used to speed control a vacuum cleaner motor for a scratch built engine flow bench tester. Who knows if it will actually handle 10 kW, but it handled the 12 amp 120V vacuum motor and only got just warm enough to notice it was getting warm. Keep in mind, these types of voltage controls only work for resistive loads (incandescent light bulbs, heaters, cfl/led lights that say they are dimmable) and universal type (brush type) motors such as handheld power tools, vacuum cleaners, leaf blowers, etc. They will not work for induction type motors (resistive start or capacitor start), or anything that uses a line power transformer or switch mode power supply that converts supply voltage. If the rotor inside the motor is not wound and does not have brushes, it will not work and you could damage the motor or the controller.

Is as advertised.
This product overheated and would not regulate the speed as it should.

Works reliably
This product is plug and play for adjusting the temperature on my water heaters. I've used slightly cheaper products in the past, and they failed miserably. This product is worth paying a little more for because it works reliably.

Economical speed controller for DC motor
Well worth the money if you need it quickly for a project. Can be purchased for less from sources outside the US, but takes a long time to arrive. It works great as a speed controller for the 2 HP DC treadmill motor I used in a workshop DIY build.

Thumbs Down
I received this item and should have tested right away. Let it sit around for awhile prior to using it on my project and then once I needed it and installed it I found out it is bad. No regulation always outputs full power to match the incoming.

works great! as described. powering a treadmill motor with it (+ bridge rectifier)
works great, doesn't heat up, using this for a 2.4 kw treadmill motor.

Single Phase!
Seems OK, be aware it's single phase, not to be used with typical US 220V.Perhaps using two of them you could control 220VAC
