Unique and beautifully fashioned # D carving of a monkey riding on an elephant. The elephant is a roayl animal and a symbol of strength and wisdom. Only people of the highest rank and honor historically rode on the backs of elephants. Therefore this carving is an amulet of success, the wearer supposedly benefiting from the feng shui powers conveyed by the animals. The carving is 2 inches wide and by 1.75 inches high by .5 inches deep. The single jade stone from which this intricate carving was fashioned is slightly translucent, an ivory colored jade, etched and stained with a reddish ocher. I suspended the pendant with 24 K gold plated seed beads from a gold plated bail, and suspended the pendant from a 23 inch, 18 Ct, gold filled 4 mm heavy link chain. In Chinese legend, this amulet is said to influence fortune, to assist the wearer in triumphing over competition in business. It is also said to activate personal Chi as well as to enhance success at work.
