It's a cheaper Artoo, just paint it!
I got this for my missing R2-D2, yeah its much smaller but will do until i get the old kit to match my old Threepio. This is Artoo in disguise but as i mentioned a lot cheaper...

Outstanding quality, but a little disappointed
The quality of this kit is just insane.I've been making scale models for over 40 years, and I have to say, without even breaking the seal on the bags, this is one of the best quality model kits I've ever seen, let alone the best quality Star Wars kits.First the good stuffA careful examination of the parts shows there is absolutely no mould flash at all, nor any visible ejector marks. So much care has gone into the design of this kit. everything looks straight and well formed, no warping on the sprues, and the round parts are designed with lots of internal support to prevent the usual spread.I'm not sure if it's pre-painted, or just really high quality plastic, but the finish on the visible surfaces is flawless, the body has a perfect shine, and all the plain coloured parts are a perfect shade of black. Also, there is no hint at all of the usual wavy discolouration found on most injection moulded kits.Something I love about Bandai is their innovative modular display stands, clever marketing really, but if you decide to collect all the kits in the series, you can display them on one big interlocked display. The quantity of accessories and quality of parts for the price this is sold at, really shows that certain other kit makers have been ripping us off for years. I can't believe I got not only this kit for this price, but I've been able to get all of the rest of the series at a similar price.I haven't built it yet, but I have heard good things about the fit on these kits, and I'm looking forward to putting my little droid collection together in the near future.Scale is spot on and there is a ton of detail that has usually been missed off of R2 model kits (yes I'm talking about the MPC kit), and while the instructions are in Japanese primarily, there is enough English to work it out. After all most model kit instructions are just pictures anyway. You can also find translated version on the net if you look hard enough. The R2 accessories included are great, you don't just get the pictured drinks dispenser, there are spare glasses for it, and a complete spare dome for R2, lots of accessory options for R2.This unit is a Death star maintenance unit, as are the next 2 releases from Bandai. Hopefully they will be releasing some of the rebel units seen in the films soon too.Now the not so goodUnlike the Original Bandai 2 Droid kit, this comes only with the fiddly sticker sheet not the much more familiar water slide decals, but the experienced modeler that would opt for water slide decals would be reaching for their paint brush to detail this kit anyway.Unlike the rest of the Series, this is in one colour only, BLACK. if you want to pick out the colored details, you're going to have to paint it, as the included sticker sheet is not going to do such a great job on those details. I was surprised because the other kits have ingenious methods of producing the coloured details, this is really the R2-D2 kit moulded in all black.Reviews of others in the series have often highlighted that the buyer just has never made a model kit before and completely ignored the instructions about cutting and cleaning the parts from the sprue. All in All, this is an incredible value kit, and is the beginning of a shelf of every R2 unit ever seen in the franchise. 4* for this one as it feels like Bandai phoned it in with this one. I'm hoping the upcoming R5-J2 unit isn't a similar re-colour.

Read his small print carefully you don’t get everything in his pictures
Well I got fooled a little bit,,,this black R2 doesn’t come with the Jaba the hutt drinking glasses or the gold stand like this dumb guy advertises in his pictures. Yes if you read the small small print he never says it does & he knows dam well it doesn’t come with it so he shouldn’t have used the picture showing it. You only get the claw arm for picking up the glasses & a few other accessories. But still worth getting & still a good price

Pretty cool droid.
Goes together well, just like the other bandai droids HOWEVER, the plastic is not colored like blue for R2D2 or red R5D4. All parts are black, and orange stickers have to be applied. It looks good, but not AS good as the R2 or R5 bandais. I give it a 4th star because this package has one of the drink accessories for R2D2! (The silver server that comes out of the top of R2's head)

Da bei BANDAI i.d.R. nicht geklebt und auch nicht lackiert werden muss, bekommen auch "Modellbaulaien" und Anfänger ein ansehnliches Modell zustande.Probiert BANDAI aus und ihr werdet begeistert sein.
