Despite being dark it’s interesting
It’s quite dark but steamy story. Blair is certainly lost, she don’t have experience with real world or men. She refuses to speak due to post-traumatic shock. Brede and Aden are not very positives heroes here. They both use her, in many ways and for many, however so different, reasons. Plot is interesting, idea pretty original, and cliffhanger is killing me.

Exploited by Lane Hart a five-star read that will break you
Exploited by Lane Hart a five-star read that will break you. This is the first book in the Dark Redemption series and it comes with a warning that you will want to have book two ready and waiting as there are some major cliffs in this book and I usually hate cliffy endings but this book has been amazing, and I have every faith that the second one will be just as good as Lane Hart is an author who will break you, but she also has the talent to put you back together again. Each of the three main character’s in this story have their own unique story to tell and they use their own voices to tell us, not all of the stories have happy endings or happy beginnings, and some of them are hard to read, but the thing about Lane Hart is that even the hardest of things to read still have a poetry to them that make them more palatable. This was one of the hardest reads I’ve read for a while, but in the same breath I can’t wait till I’ve finished writing this to get to reading the second book. Thank you again Lane for being amazing.

Where is quantum theory going?
Although well versed in what could be called Classical (Newtonian) physics, and having come to terms with the often counterintuitive basics of quantum mechanics, there remained a dissatisfaction with some aspects of quantum theory, specifically related to the expanding universe and the “Big Bang” theory of its origins. How something which was basically nothing could suddenly explode into a mass of components which would continue to expand infinitely was not philosophically satisying. This having attention drawn to this little book was an opportunity for some enlightenment, especially in light of the existing enthusiastic reviews.Having read the book (several times because of the new concepts with which it deals) I was not disappointed. Having traced the development of our concepts of the “granular” nature of matter, which exists in a “cloud” in space but where their exact location at any one time cannot be defined, from the ancient Greek philosophers to the present, the writer tackles the most recent views. It wqs satisfying to find that my concerns about the Big Bang origin of the universe had been confirmed in that, extrapolating backwards, matter could not have been condensed into a single point (the singularity) because that would transgress the newly accepted view that repulsion between the fundamental components would prohibit it, the concept of the “Big Bounce” resolved the difficulty because if matter were condensed to near that boundary the process would inevitably reverse. Likewise the infinite expansion was also wrong. This does not of course explain where the whole process might have started, and sine the concept of infinity seems untenable there must be processes which we have not yet envisaged let alone proven. Loop theory (or loop quantum gravity) is currently the most promising concept which fits all the evidence. The author however is willing to admit that there are still “mysteries” and as always in science, one needs just one piece of evidence which does not fit to result in a rejection. As he says there is much about which “he is not sure”. Although this book was originally written (in Italian) in 2014, it is current in that it includes the discovery (in the Large Hadron Collider at CERN) of the Higgs field (the Higgs boson which amusingly is described on the first mention as a Higgs bosun). This book is challenging: as I mentioned I had to read it three times before I felt I knew what it contained, even although some aspects are still Mysteries: but very well the effort.

Good suspense...lots of secrets..
***SPOILERS***She witnesses her mothers murder and is threatened to keep silent or suffer the same consequences. Blair is eight y/o and stays mute for the next 10 years. Literally. Living in hell, fearful and feeling responsible for her mother’s death...being unwanted and unloved she decides to end her life. Except she bumps into the man who’s been hired to kill her. Brede is a hitman who makes the mistake of letting his curiosity of Blair get the better of him. He decides to wait a few days before killing her and collect his fee. She fascinates him and in a matter of hours he becomes obsessed with her. This was a good story; full of ironic moments, the biggest being Blair wanting to kill herself but then deciding to put it off when she meets the man who’s supposed to kill her. A few convoluted twists and turns, like a prowler that visits her every night, cuddles with her then searches her house when she sleeps. I couldn’t figure out why exactly she’d talk to her night prowler, but with Brede she plays the mute game. And having sex with both men didn’t sit well. But the story’s conveyed well and entertaining. Unfortunately it’s a cliffhanger.
