I use two filters and believe 3 or 4 would also fit. From what I have read they would also fit in the Berkey stainless steel tanks of various sizes. And to be precise, I assume we're talking about gravity filtration tanks and not pressurized systems. While I have never lab-tested water output from these filters, I can tell you they function very well and are my filters of choice. They are fast: two filters have no trouble keeping up with 3 or 4 people. I replace mine once every year. I clean them every 3 months or so with vinegar because of our hard water. (Just fill the entire upper tank with vinegar, let filter about a half hour to dissolve calcium, pour remaining vinegar into lower tank for 15 minutes to dissolve minerals there also, pull the filters and scrub them with Scotch Brite pads, save all the vinegar in original jugs for many more future cleanings, rinse out both tanks, reassemble, do a partial first flush, and everything is like new again.) One thing these filters cannot do is completely filter red food coloring which the Berkey charcoal filters can. So you cannot be absolutely certain there are no leaks from the upper tank to the lower tank at the washers. But one thing these ceramic filters can do is filter most of the fluoride from municipal water, something a charcoal filter cannot do. This filter works well as testing has shown. I am using it as a replacement for the ceramic filter designed for my unit. The only modification I needed to make was to cut the threaded part about an eighth of an inch because it was hitting my standard filter when attached my tapwater is loaded with chlorine and fluoride and you can taste it for sure. This filter clearly makes a difference in the smell and flavor of my water. My recommendation to others is to send your water off to have it tested both from your tap (City Water) and from you Water Filter. Do your homework there's only a few in the United States that are worth using to test.
