Scarpa Men's Triolet Pro Goretex Mountaineering Boot

I got these boots to wear on a Ibex hunt in Spain. This will be my first trip into this type of terrain. I have hiked a lot i my life, but I have never done very technical stuff, after a lot of research I landed on these. At first when I tried them on I was nervous about how stiff the sole is, but I took them into the mountains in Maine for a weekend and they are awesome. I don't think I will ever be able to go back to a more casual hiking boot. The feel light weight, great support and the stiff sole, once you get used to it is great on ascent and descent. I got a half size larger than my normal shoe and if I did it over would probably go with a whole, but over all I am very happy so far. I hope I am singing the same song after the Ibex hunt, which will certainly be more involved than my test run.

I bought these boots primarily with long alpine rock routes in mind. Having recenty returned from a hard alpine climb on the North Face of Mt Hicks (New Zealand), I am totally happy with them for that purpose, and they can also handle the occasional bit of steep ice quite well. Access to the climb involved two days of hiking over moraine and glaciated terrain, and these boots were so lightweight and comfortable it was almost like I was hiking in sneakers. Highly recommended!

I have already had two different models of Scarpa trekking ad mountaineering shoes that I liked very much. This pair is not an exception, they are perfect for approaches and moutaineering.

My most expensive pair of footwear. Fits as I expected. First used it on a climb up the Zugspitze in Germany. A cold rainy morning start to the 9 hour climb turned to snow/rain mix and finally all snow by the glacier field and all the way to the summit. Everyone else had cold wet toes while I arrived with completely warm and dry feet (minus a little sweat). I would buy them again.

These boots are great for just about any type of hiking/mountaineering. Great ankle support and very comfortable. They did cause blisters on my heals until they were properly broken in, but this is to be expected from most new shoes/boots. They also work great with crampons.
