So what ever color you have underneath will show up. When your fingertips are cold they change color to black or a darker shade of the color you have underneath. The first time I did it I had a hot pink color underneath. With two coats of the shade shifter on top, the color looked like a dark burgundy. The next time I did them I put three coats on and the color turned completely black.
