Amazing Customer Service, great product, needs a tweek for perfect
I ordered these after trying an off brand on Amazon. The off brand was adequate but had a lot of sound bleed. When I received my first pair of Shokz Open Runs they were AWESOME. extremely light, flexible, comfortable, I could wear all day without a headache, sounded great, and battery lasted ALL DAY!!! These were my go to headset for about two months. One day they bugged out and started triggering my hands free assistant. After charging them overnight, as I usually do, they were unresponsive. The warranty claim was easy to initiate but was overall slower than expected turn around time. About fourish weeks from starting a claim to receiving a new headset. Still, receiving a new headset was a plus. Used my replacement headset for about two weeks and the very same thing happened again. Called the warranty number and talked to a real person in Texas. I explained and he asked me how long I charge the unit for. I responded overnight. He said thats probably why they keep shorting out.... What? Its 2023. I havent had to time how long I charge something since I was a child and bought my toys at Radio Shack back in 1980. He told me it takes 2-3 hours to charge completely. Anything more may damage the battery. I asked is there no battery overcharge protection built into a $130 pair of headphones and he said no. Seriously good customer service experience overall but the product itself is lacking in durability. I don't have the time or brain power to remember to take a pair of headphones off the charger before they get damaged. After going over the included instructions, I can find no mention of charging times, however I do see operating temperatures and environments appropriate to its use. As seen in the photo, it states 32°-113°F. I work outside, in hot muggy Missouri,I sweat, profusely. I guess if you plan on sweating, don't use these outside in the summer, or winter, and plan your day around babysitting the charging of your headset, these might be the headset for you. I am returning mine for a refund. I hate giving low star rating. However no amount of customer service or usability can out weigh durability and an obvious flaw. I have hafld dozens of BT headsets from $-$$$. All of which have lasted years, charging overnight or longer. Please fix this issue and I would repurchase and give 6 stars if I could. UPDATE About two days after i emailed the company for an exchange (the refund window closed at 45 days) i was emailed a return lable. Less than a week after I made the phone call mentioned above, I received a replacement (and then some) in the mail. The product may have an issue but the 100% customers experience really does make up for the inconvenience. Keep innovative and refining your product, keep your A+ customer service, and you will dominate the wireless sound market.

Fits my usage
Apart from the coolness factor of having sound delivered through your headbone, there are things to like and dislike about this product. First, it actually works. I get sound delivered to my occipital bone! That's cool. Second, I ride motorcycles a lot and I don't use a helmet (YOLO). Opening my ears while riding is a plus and adds to safety and awareness. That would apply to any other situation where you want to keep your hearing intact. You can easily converse with someone while still hearing music or your favorite podcast. Third, it does not pollute the sound around you. Even at the highest volume, it's hard to hear anything coming out of it - because its sound is transmitted by contact. Fourth, I run a lot and sweat a lot too. As there is no membrane, this headphone will never stop working, which happens frequently with my other earphones. Fifth, it is firm in the head. Even when riding the motorcycle, it never gets even close to jumping from my head. It would even work jumping from a 50m trampoline. Sixth, the microphone works fine. Not great, just fine. Seventh, I hate anything inside my holes (ears being one of them), so having this sitting nicely on my skin is perhaps its biggest feature. The charging cable is magnetic and snaps into position very easily without effort. What I do not like: The sound is far from being crystal, esp. the highs and lows. You are not going to get any reasonable sound quality. But I am not a big music fan anyway. The charging cable is special, as it needs to be, so you can only charge it in one place.

Best Headphones Ever!
I don’t like noise canceling headphones and leaving earbuds in my ears for any length of time gives me headaches. These are the solution to both of those problems. Because they’re so light and you hear everything going on around you, you’ll forget you’re wearing them. The sound quality is good, they’re durable and they charge quickly. I wish I had known about these earlier. Great design and quality for the money.

My Fave Earphones For 9 years!
I did the math and my original After Shokz bone conductive earphones lasted probably nine-ish years? They were still fairly new on the market when the salesman talked me into getting them because I was looking for a solution for trails where I needed to be able to hear bike traffic coming behind me (Though they saved me A time or two in crosswalks as well!). They work so great that I ended up having two pairs to alternate because I use them almost all day every day for work & hobbies as well. Only reason I’m getting an updated pair is because after nine years of daily use, they’re not holding a charge as long, and I will continue use those as backup. I also want to mention how comfortable they are because I sometimes forget they’re on when they are not in because you literally just don’t even feel them. I am very happy with the sound quality too, because it’s surprising how good the quality is, the benefit being you can still hear what’s going on around you - I use these mainly for podcasts and audiobooks, though they are good for music too. For anybody else who’s been a fan of the older ones and have any concerns about the new Shokz like I did, they definitely live up to the hype. The main differences that there is a very proprietary magnet type charging cord that will not be interchangeable with other devices.

Bone Conducting Headphones are the way to go
When it comes to headphones, I consider myself a well-seasoned veteran. I've tried all sorts—from earbuds to over-ears—but none have captivated me quite like Aftershokz. A friend introduced me to this hidden gem four years ago, and since then, I've been spreading the Aftershokz gospel to anyone who'll listen—friends, co-workers, and even random gym buddies. The Problem with Traditional Headphones I've always hated the sensation of having something jammed into my ear canal, which often left me irritated and uncomfortable. It's like your ears are pleading for a breath of fresh air, especially during intense workouts. It’s equally concerning when sweat starts to build up in and around the ears, affecting both sound quality and comfort. Enter the game-changer: Aftershokz and their bone-conducting technology. The Genius Behind Bone-Conducting Technology The moment I tried Aftershokz, I knew they were different—in a good way. They sit outside the ear, and through bone-conducting technology, transmit sound vibrations directly to your inner ear. Sounds complicated, but it's just plain genius! This tech frees up your ears to hear the world around you. It's especially handy for running outdoors or multitasking at work, allowing you to be aware of your surroundings while jamming out to your favorite tunes. A Pair for Every Occasion I've owned various models over the past four years, as Aftershokz has continuously updated their product line with even more features and comfort enhancements. Currently, I own two pairs—one for work and another for workouts. You might wonder why two pairs? Well, each has its purpose. Work Mode At work, the Aftershokz headphones are my go-to for focus and productivity. I use them for Zoom or Teams calls every day for work. They are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods, and the battery life is nothing short of impressive, lasting me throughout the workday without needing a recharge. Workout Warriors For workouts, these headphones are a revelation. Traditional headphones would get slippery and lose their fit when drenched in sweat. With Aftershokz, that’s a problem of the past. They stay in place, even during the most vigorous exercises, and I don't have to worry about moisture affecting the sound quality. The Verdict I wholeheartedly endorse Aftershokz headphones. They've become an integral part of both my work and fitness routines, providing unmatched comfort, impeccable sound quality, and the freedom to stay connected to the world around me. If you've ever felt the limitations of traditional headphones, give Aftershokz a try. Your ears will thank you, and you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.

Lightweight, comfortable, and allow you to hear surrounding sounds while listening to music.
Shokz Open Run bone-conducting headphones are lightweight, comfortable, and secure, allowing users to hear surrounding sounds while listening to music. The Open Run Pro model offers improved sound quality with enhanced bass and higher volume. I have several brands of ear buds all of which go into or cover my ears and headphones which cover and set on top of the ears. I was looking for something that did not go inside or cover my ears yet would give me a good sound and was a comfortable secure fit. In my search for headphones, I began with the Open Run model. These headphones are lightweight, comfortable to wear all day, and fit securely. Unlike my previous ear buds, they remain in place without constant adjustment, and unlike my over-the-ear headphones, they do not cover my ears. Their small size makes them easy to pack or carry during trips or errands. The bone-conducting sound design allows me to hear all surrounding sounds, such as traffic, TV, children, and people around me, while still listening to my music. This can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on my preferences. While the Open Run model’s sound quality was acceptable, I desired more bass and higher sound volume if these were to become my preferred headphones. I was particularly impressed by the fit, quality, and other aspects of the Open Run model, so I returned it and ordered the Open Run Pro model. The Open Run Pro model offers improved sound quality with enhanced bass and higher sound volume. Like the Open Run model, it fits well and is comfortable to wear for extended periods. Strategies for Mitigating Surrounding Sounds: In previous iterations of the Open Run Shozk, earplugs were included as a default accessory. While this may seem counterintuitive to the principles of open hearing and bone conduction technology, I have discovered that in situations where external sounds are undesirable, using earplugs with the Shozk headphones can be highly effective in providing a degree of sound isolation.

Instantly became a fan, I'll be upgrading to swimproof in a few years
The sound quality is excellent. Usually when you hear about bone conductors, the first thing mentioned is the tradeoff of quality for more situational awareness, but these are excellent. They're definitely not on the level of my over-ear noise-canceling headphones, but I'm quite satisfied with the sound and have no complaints about it. The one downside is that they tend to get flooded out by everyday noises. I've had to pause my podcasts while rinsing the dishes, washing my hands, etc. That's kind of the point of bone conductors though, so I'm not complaining so much as noting. You won't be able to hear your playlist very well while walking down the sidewalk of a busy street. The fit is good, and they're comfortable. I've forgotten a few times that I've had them on, and there've been other times where I reached up to take them off and realized I already had taken them off. I did experience a bit of ear soreness after prolonged wear, but that was bordering on six or seven hours, and it's the same as what you'll get from wearing glasses for that long. Cartilage is sensitive. Take care of your cartilage, y'all. Battery life right now, fresh after purchase, is excellent. I've been getting through the workday listening to podcasts without issue. Adjusting the volume, or powering them on, will inform you of the battery level either high, medium, or low, and I've never hit low between charges.

Everyone time I wear these I am so impressed with how well the music sounds and how well I can hear my surroundings. If you like good quality music but still want to be aware of your surroundings then buy these. Battery life is great as well.

Fantastic for runners and cyclists
The Shokz Open Runs use bone conduction technology that lets you listen to music, while still being aware of your surroundings. Note that if you are looking for a pair of earbuds that have excellent noise cancelling (these have none at all) or good sound quality, this is NOT where you should be looking. These are designed specifically for people who want to be aware of their surroundings while they are running or cycling. I decided to buy these because I was tired of having my earbuds fall out of my ears while I'm running, and also felt like it was not very safe running around and not being able to hear your surroundings at all. I don't find them very good for the gym, since they have a wrap around band on the back, so they will get in the way if you do any exercise where your head is resting against a bench (also gyms typically like to play extremely loud music, so you probably won't be able to hear anything). As a runner, these are great. They stay in firmly place (even with lots of rain and sweat), are very comfortable (wore it for a long 2-3 hour run with no problems), and you will be able to hear everything around you, which is pretty important if you train near roads where there are a lot of cars and other people. The bluetooth range is perfectly good, I pair it up with my Garmin 255 and I have had no issues with dropouts (I have noticed that a lot of cheaper bluetooth headphones often drop out while you are running). The only downside is that the audio quality is OK at best, and they perform pretty averagely once you turn up the volume. That being said, audio quality is not what I'm looking for in a pair of earbuds specifically made for running. Definitely a must have if you are a runner or cyclist. If you are using it for anything else, I would look elsewhere.

Excellent product
Experiencing audio through bone conduction headphones offers a unique and often delightful listening journey. This innovative technology allows sound to travel through your bones, leaving your ears open to your surroundings. Many users find this particularly beneficial for safety during outdoor activities or for staying aware in busy environments. The comfort and distinct audio quality provided by these devices are frequently highlighted in positive feedback. Overall, they present a compelling alternative for those seeking a different way to enjoy their sound.
