Very interesting presentation perfect for 6th grade and up
I bought this book for a current 6th grader who is an avid reader. I was amazed at stories of women I had never heard of particularly in history and from many different countries. It includes women right up to the current times. Information is short and presented in a very colorful and interesting way. I am sure this book will stimulate her interest in learning more about some of these amazing women that my grandniece and I never heard of before but who made a difference. I enjoyed learning about them and I know my grandniece will as well.

Great range of women
Loved the range of women written about! The format is like a news magazine with great non- fiction features. The text gives just enough information to make a reader want to learn more about each person. That can lead a student to search out longer biographies on favorites either in e- books or at the library.

You need this book! Women, children, men... everyone.
Great book for any parent homeschooling, looking to do a different story each night before bedtime, or to read here and there. We love the illustrations and the flow of the book. Must get!

Fantastic Pages - Wish they didn't erase LGBTQ+!
I wanted to give this book five stars, because it's pretty awesome! These women are unsung heroes for a reason - in a society that does not value women as highly as men, we just don't hear about them often. This book reaches from the classical times in history, like with Sappho, to modern day (and, important to some, non-Western), like Malala Yousafzai. That's what makes the next part so disappointing: a total white washing of LGBTQ+ women. The aforementioned Sappho is huge in the community, and wrote poetry about her love for women; the book goes out of its way to state an unfounded mythos around Phaon (a man supposedly blessed by Aphrodite with magic ointment) as historic fact. It explicitly paints her as writing about heterosexual love, which is so false I wonder what their motive behind writing it was.Next, Josephine Baker, a black bisexual woman who became a spy for the French during WW2. Her sexuality is only mentioned in regards to how appealing she is to men - gross, considering her relationships with Frida Kahlo, Ada Smith, and Clara Smith. Again the question is why they chose to not only omit the queer relationships, but to go out of their way to overplay the hetero ones. Liberal feminism? I don't know the authors well enough to say, only that these were my "red flags" so to speak.I still recommend this on a basic level for children in your life (and not just little girls/fem kids, but everyone - we all stand to gain by remembering awesome historical figures). I wouldn't rely too heavily on it for true history, at the very least in regards to the queer community. In a time of little representation, I guess I'll take what I get.

Great gift for a strong independent girl or boy
I really liked all the tidbits of information scattered throughout the book along with the biographies. The variety of role models is great. I looked at other books before making this choice for an 8 year old's virtual birthday party.

Terrific short bio of 100 women
I really enjoyed this book and putting the faces of the famous women in history. It's a really nice read to get a brief bio on each woman and what she contributed to history. If you want to learn more about a woman once you know the small bio, you can always follow up on a full book bio after that, but I enjoyed the short version of each.
