KISS, keep it simple, stupid. After chasing a no start condition on my father's boat, it came down to simple corrosion on the cap!I agree with the many othwr reviewers regarding the screws. I reused mine, the ones that came with it are very soft and highly likely to strip.

Functionally superior but save your old screws
It had brass contacts and embedded hold down washers which was good. Hold down screws were wrong pitch and those and rotor screws had no Loc-Tite. My old 2003 cap had a SAE J1711 decal but this one did not. Is that still a requirement? BB ads for other caps emphasize compliance but not here. This cap is superior to original equipment but may have been built for a truck.

DO NOT BUY, JUNK
First off you could tell the rotor was warped just looking at it. The rotor casting had flaws in it not allowing it to sit flush against the top of the distributor because there was too much plastic remnant in the wrong places. The rotor was just terrible. The cap came with the wrong coarseness of threads, if I had attempted to screw them in I would have cracked my distributor housing. The cap itself was also flawed as the mounting holes were off just the tiniest bit. The cap connections were tapered and wouldn't allow a good snap or connection to the spark plug wires. Why this was even made I don't know but don't waste your time. Go buy a name brand part especially for boats. Not worth the headache. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!

Look elsewhere, as in factory or similar quality.
I have to agree with Dr. Scientist and Chris D. I spent countless hours chasing red herrings around this god damn boat, only to find the cap was bad. I'm glad I took an hour to chill out before writing this review. Who would think their brand new cap is crap. I moved on to fuel pumps, spark plugs, wires, sensors, relays, fuses. Unreal... Do yourself a favor and just buy a factory part. It's simply not worth the pain and suffering. Sorry supplier, but these are the facts witnesses by multiple customers.
