My son loves this, we sit together and build a new kit each week. I know it says for kids 8+, but this is excellent for younger kids too! The pieces can be a little tricky for small hands to connect together, but it's good tactile learning and an opportunity for them to have the joy and pride of building a working machine themselves. The instructions are very well done, we go through them together and he takes the lead in finding what changes in each picture, what part is involved, and where it needs to go to make progress. Watching his confidence grow in both building with his hands and also communicating what he understands and what he thinks should be done next is very rewarding. The whole kit is a fantastic price, after a couple months the kits have held up great with nothing breaking despite regular play and work exactly as they should and the first set of batteries are still lasting. I especially love the airplane, we have it on a window in the sunshine and any time of the day it's just happily spinning the propeller.

My son had a lot of fun building the solar car. The instructions were easy to follow, and it kept him engaged while teaching basic engineering and science concepts. Seeing the car run on solar power was really exciting. Great educational gift for kids who love to build and learn!

Cannot sing enough praises. What an awesome STEM kit, especially for the price. Everything worked, all prices were there, instructions were easy enough for my 7 and 11 year olds to follow, and both kids were so pleased with the end products. Each build took 15-30 minutes (enough time to hold their interest in one sitting). We are now shopping for more from this company.

I bought this STEM kit primarily for the solar car. Of the various solar cars I have bought from Amazon this is the best all-round. It has grippy wheels that roll freely, a wide base for stability, and the solar panel is large compared to the total body weight, so the car will move even when there is not enough direct sunlight for some others. The "propeller" car is also fun (but could do with tidier wiring), and the plane works in so much as the propeller turns when the solar panel is in sunlight. I have not assembled the battery fan.

Few hours of entertainment for the kids. Pretty cool concept and ideas. Takes time for younger kids to do, but can be done. The quality is what one would expect for the price paid. Be sure to have plenty AA batteries available.

My grandkids and I had a great time assembling these kits. Overall, everything was good. There were some pieces where the thin wooden parts were a bit fragile and broke because enough care was not made during assembly. These pieces were noted in the instructions. Extra spare pieces were provided so that was a nice touch. The listing said, "for Boys." I have to tell you my granddaughter was thrilled to have her own kit.

Great kit to start kids off in steam projects

Nice introduction kit. The solar panels didn’t function unfortunately. My child and I had lots of fun assembling the pieces together. I like the variety of projects included. I wouldn’t recommend getting it as a gift since the solar panels don’t work, but it makes a nice set to have laying around for a rainy day activity

It is a good present for young curious minds. Except it is smaller than I thought.
