44374 1-5/8 Stainless Steel Screw Eyes

These screw eyes are very sturdy. I was hoping to be able to pull the eye open to make hooks but they are thick and and strong. I couldn't even get them partially open with all my force and two pairs of pliers. I was still able to hang my tapestry with them so I am happy. They are great screw eyes!

It is listed as stainless steel but what I received was a zink plated screws. I had to return them since I need a stainless steel screw for the outdoor project. Very disappointed.

The picture shows a continuous eye. Yes, if you look close there may be a seam as opposed to a weld, but it appears that end of the screw had been cut at an angle so that it would fit flush. In reality, the gap is almost 1/8th inch and most of the ends have a dent. Since I obtained these for an art project, these are detractions. Obviously if you are just stringing 9 gauge fence wire you might not care. These eye screws would not hold 16 gauge, however.I'm not happy about the shipping charges. I ordered three boxes and was charged $7.38 on top of the original $9.75 shipping charge. The three boxes were stuffed in a USPS flat rate envelope. No packing material -- I was lucky that the boxes were not damaged in transit. In any case, the shipping charge for 1 box far exceeded the cost of shipping all three. It was ridiculous for Farm and Home Supply Center to add $7.38 for the additional boxes.Shipping is lower if you order directly from their website. I tried to place an order on that website and the paypal payment did not get recorded. Amazon was, as usual, very convenient. Hopefully Amazon will stock these and ship them Prime.

The quality of the screw eyes is great. I cannot always find stainless steel, and these are for outdoor use. Really exceptional quality.I wish the size were shown in a more visually accurate way. That kept this from being 5 stars but it reflects on the user who didn't get our his ruler. It's still a size I will use up, but compare the size with a ruler.

Well made and strong, with clean cut threads. Have purchased similar stainless eye screws at hardware stores for twice the price and with half the quality. Hardware store screws often broke and the threads were not cleanly cut and this proverbs then from making a clean start into older hard wood in a patio cover. Would highly recommend!

The product description says Stainless Steel. These listed are a low quality stainless steel screw eyes and will rust. Stainless steal that does not rust does not attract magnets. Think about stainless steal refrigerators do magnets stick to them. The other sellers probably do sell stainless steel screw eyes that do not rust as they are more expensive. The cheapest place I found for quality stainless steal eye screws was Home Depot. You can read the comments under my review for a link to an explanation of various grades of stainless steel
