AUGUST 2018 - So ... It seems to be working fine. it is a good size for our year and a half old boxer mix pup. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I'm not sure how long it will take her to nose it up and dump the whole thing all over her crate. I'm just not sure how to secure it to prevent that from happening, but not take away the ease of lifting it off to clean / fill (which I actually really really like!). And then ... she's smart, maybe she will be smart enough to not dump her water. I'll update after it's been in use for a while, if she leaves it alone, I'll pop it up to 5 stars. Update: so we've been using this for a while and our spoiled rotten boxer mix has nudged it off the crate twice. Both times set off our glass break sensor of the alarm system. However, both times it was in protest of it being empty, and only once was it when we weren't home. She actually seems to prefer this one over the regular bowl / jug waterer. Going to order a second one for food in her bowl for the occasional long days in the crate. Second update (April 24, 2019) - I finally got around to ordering another bowl because summer is coming and there might be a few longer days. Today was anticipated to be one of those so I took the second bowl I ordered (arrived yesterday) and put 2 cups of kibble in there for our fur baby. Yep. Nope. She doesn't dump her water, but she won't let the food there. The mess was insane - kibble EVERYWHERE. Will need to look into securing this better if we are going to make another attempt. I am not docking stars, because this isn't the items fault (really), she lets the water bucket be. But I am sharing as a tale of caution for anyone else with a stubborn as all get out pooch. I will say that the original one is still in pristine condition. I run it through the dishwasher at least once a week for good measure, but it has never seemed icky and it still looks brand new!

We buy these for our dog crates. Our pups get thirsty throughout the day when we aren't home and they are crated. These are easy to attach and remove, easy to clean, and keep the water a nice temperature. They are sleek and work with any room decor. They are sturdy and show no signs of wear even after years of use. We love how much water they hold so you don't have to refill it constantly.

Review for 1-quart pail: I purchased two of these for use in my dogs' kennels, and they are used and abused daily. I fill them with water daily and they are run through the dishwasher (top rack) usually two to three times a week. My dogs have knocked them off the chain link numerous times, and they have stood up well to this abuse. The hooks have remained on them through daily use for the past five months. The handle is very convenient to carry them when they are full of water. They are easy to clean and sturdy. The only downside is that they are small (only 1-quart) and the dogs usually drink them dry within a day (so they need to be filled regularly). My dogs are big though (4o lbs and up), so for smaller dogs, they should last a full 24 hours. Review for 4-quart pail: I also bought two of these for kennel use (at the same time as the 1-quart ones). They are good as pails, but within three months of use, the hooks that hold them to the chain link broke off. I think it is because when they are full of water, they are quite heavy. I gave this product four stars only due to the hooks breaking off the 4-quart pails (the 1-quart deserves five stars). They are good pails, easy to use. easy to clean - I run them through the bottom rack of the dishwasher every few days, but they usually need some extra scrubbing before I put them in the dishwasher. I use the handle to attach the pail to the chain link with a small lock to keep the pails off the ground.

I recommend the flat sided stainless pail. I use these to hang on the inside of the front wire grid door of my dog crates. It may not be evident in the picture but the pails have two hooks and the pails stay in place quite good hanging from the wire door while driving, at least while driving on reasonably good gravel roads. The 2-quart size is the right size for a medium size dog. I have Brittanys; the pail is large enough for them to comfortably drink from and lets me open and close the crate door with the pail staying in place.

Can't praise these enough. Fantastic for long car journeys.

Super happy with the quality and the size of these pails, better than expected! Definitely recommend these for hanging inside a kennel for the small-medium sized dog. So glad I found these.
