how often do i have to replace filter?

There are two filters, carbon filter is good for 150 liters filtering, change every two months. The micro filter is good for 1000 liters change once a year.

Can i buy only activated carbon? Its not necessary to buy complete replacement when it can be used 264 galleons. Its seems extra cost

From initial our research, we have deducted that activated carbon material is not effective at removing nitrates from water. Since we have never tested our LifeStraw products against nitrates and nitrites, we do not have conclusive data on this type of removal percentage.
