This product is perfect if, you have problems with debris covering your flat grate and preventing water from draining.

This has been a game changer. Our old flat one we would have to go clear every time it rained from leaves and debris to keep it from creating a pond. Since installing this the water has continued to drain with no problem clogging up even after the heaviest rains.

This drain cover looks effective at keeping the drain from being blocked by leaves. Unfortunately, the slots are wide enough to easily allow leaves to fall into the drain. If enough leaves fall through, the drain might block underground.

An outdoor drain covered in leaves or mud can lead to a flooding disaster, as I learned during recent torrential rains in our area. Leaves and mud effectively sealed our drain grates and water had to go somewhere else, causing massive loss of topsoil. These cages are heavy and well designed, perfectly covering 12" drain box grates. HIghly recommended where runoff drains MUST stay clear.
