Because the flanges were too large my nipple would enlarge to the size of the flange and that left me with very sore nipples. The flanges for the Elvie are $29.99 and the smaller size Medela flanges are $18 I believe. I didn’t want to have to buy two different sets so I purchased these and they fit both my flanges just fine. The material is more rigid than I thought it would be. I’ve used them a few times on both pumps and they are more comfortable. Although I’ve read that proper fitting flanges give you a better output, I haven’t noticed an increase in volume of milk pumped. When using the Medela flanges it blocks out my view of the milk coming out, which is slightly inconvenient because I get clogged ducts so when I pump I try and massage the breast to see if I can help the let down and it’s hard when I can’t see if milk is coming out.
