What is the battery pack that I'm supposed to buy to go with this?

USB Mode: Works with any 5V/2A and above battery pack, DC Mode: works with any 7.4V/3A battery pack. After testing, using a 10000mAh portable charger (Not Included), the vest is able to provide you with 4-8 hours of warmth.

Do I need to keep the battery pack in the vest or just charge it, unplug it and go?

During use, the battery pack needs to be connected to the heated coat all the time and cannot be disconnected. Disconnection will stop heating.

Why does the temperature of my vest drop shortly after I turn it on?

After preheating, if the temperature is not adjusted, the heating jacket will automatically adjust to the medium level in about 5 minutes.

Item doesn't seem to be heating up. If I am doing something wrong or whether it's just not working?

Since the vest you received is vacuum packed, you need to open the package and let it sit for 3-4 hours before use.

Is this suitable for a gift? I want to buy it for my family?

Yes. It is well-made, heats up quickly. The black is a unisex color and comes in different sizes. It is a perfect gift for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Valentine's Day.
