Can you set this clock to automatically deduct a lunch period after so many hours so employees do not have to remember?

Lunch Rules: Allows the employer to specify whether an employee mustpunch out or have lunches automatically deducted or any combination of both.You can choose both Automatic Lunch Deductions and No Deductions, if theemployees within your Employee Group will perform multiple activities wherethey may not be able to consistently punch.

Do i need any other software to operate this time clock. Also what is the format of the export reporting system Example Word,Excel,text file, other.

For just printing- You do not need any other software, although it does have Operating System Requirements, I believe. I use Excel and Acrobat Distiller. You have 2 options for printing and saving. When you select CREATE REPORT from the report section, it generates a screen view, that allows for just printing of their screen. It does not allow changes to be made and does not allow you to select a SAVE feature. It provides each employee per page of the report. OR, from that screen you can export into an EXCEL file. The layout changes a little and I prefer the other better. The excel formatting combines all employees, so you would have to adjust it by adding or deleting cells to view just one employee per page. To save in the initial view/format, I choose to select PRINT TO ACROBAT DISTILLER, and then print it to my desktop instead of printing to my printer. Then you are left with one PDF file that contains 1 page per employee. Good Luck! I like the system and it is easy to use, but I have been experiencing some punches disappearing (after I seen them in the system on a prior log in), but I have not contacted anyone on this issue yet.

Can employees see a running total of their hours

Not on the actual terminal, but we found a way to let them view their hours on the program on the computer. We set up two logins with different permissions. Our administrative log-in can edit and make changes. The generic employee log-in can view only, and we have an instruction card taped to the computer so all employees can use it at anytime. However, the employee, once logged in, can view everybody's punches, not just their own. So if you don't want one employee knowing what hours another worked, then it could be an issue. For us it has not been a problem and we have 40 employees. In fact, one employee checking their hours may notice the red warning of missed punch on another employee and let them know they need to fill out the change log (we have a paper log they fill out if they need to add or change a punch. The administrator will make the changes listed in the log.) The only downside is that the software can only be installed on one computer, so both the admin and employee would need access to that computer.
