Huion GT-220 v2 IPS Graphics Drawing Monitor 21.5 Inch Pen Display HD Screen for Mac and PC - Black

I got this tablet about a month ago to use for freelance and for personal projects, as an alternative to the overpriced Wacom Cintiq; i waited this long to leave a review to see how it held up over time, and it has not failed me once! As someone who used a Cintiq heavily for work daily for 3 years, then to switch to this, i must say it was a much smoother transition than expected. The screen is great, haven't had any driver issues or pen not working, it's a nice sleek size, the pen battery has lasted since i charged it once a month ago, does everything i need it to. This is definitely worth the price, especially if you are a beginner or hobbyist. For professional use, i've had a few annoyances, but nothing that couldn't be worked around and nothing to make me regret the purchase. If you aren't using this for advanced or professional use or have never touched a Cintiq, go buy this thing now, it's amazing; if you want to hear my nit-picking ramblings, read on: -My biggest problem with it is the pen buttons; on my old Cintiq i was used to having the lower button on the pen set to "Alt" in Photoshop for color picking, and the higher button for "Ctrl+Z" to undo. On this Huion, the buttons do not like when you hold them down and touch the screen at the same time, they work for key bindings where you just need to tap it once, but not something like color picking where you hold it down. I've since adjusted to using ye ol keyboard and forgetting about the buttons, so no big deal. -I miss the pen tilt sensitivity on my Cintiq; i knew before i bought this that it has no pen tilt or rotation, but i thought i'd point it out for those who are wondering. The pressure sensitivity has a different feel than the Wacom and took some getting used to, i feel like the less pressure smaller strokes don't have as much control. -The screen calibration is not as accurate as a Cintiq; i find myself calibrating it often and still not being exact. -The screen gets really smudgy, i regret throwing out the silly glove they sent with it, would have helped me greatly. -Once the pen and screen have been broken in past the initial scratchy feel, the feel is great. For my Cintiq i used a special soft nib that they stopped carrying for some reason; perhaps as a suggestion to Huion they could one-up Wacom and offer soft-feel nibs that don't feel like you're scratching up the screen. Some positives that make it better than Wacom: -It works. My Wacom products have stopped working quite frequently, and so far Huion hasn't even made me reinstall the drivers once. I love it. -It's slim; Wacom is so bulky and heavy and sometimes noisy, Huion just looks so much nicer overall. And it's perfectly quiet. - It has multiple options for connecting it to the computer (unlike Wacom that just knew DVI or whatever dated port it used that my new computer didn't even have), and the cords are plenty long. -it's really inexpensive, but does not feel cheap at all. Wacom is crazy expensive and does not feel worth the price. My Huion tablet has already paid for itself and impressed me more than i expected As a standalone product, it's great. Compared to a Cintiq, eh i wouldn't mind switching back if one was given to me, but i'm very satisfied with my Huion. Awesome product, great company that is so much more than the knock-off i was looking for. Go buy it!

very good tablet, ive been using it for a couple years now and i love it!!!!!! tablet only registers the pen tips (so there's no palm detection, however, that means you cant use finger gestures). and order came with 2 pens. pressure is good, rarely does that "hook thing" at the end of strokes. My only gripes is that its pretty big and clunky, it will take up a lot of your desktop space (but i guess that's a given being 22 inchs big). The stand could also be way better, imo. it's pretty simple (nothing wrong with that) but i'd prefer if it can go a tad bit lower, and the lever was easier to access (you almost have to lift the tablet to use the lever). Also, hate hate HATE that the wires come out from the bottom of the tablet...thats probably the worst place they can be since the tablet has to sit on something, so i curve my wires back towards my desk. there's space but its just not the best place for wires. *i also broke my hdmi cord from trying to move my tablet towards myself, but the angle of the wires and the fact that was caught on something, broke the end. LUCKILY the actual port wasn't damaged, so i just popped in another hdmi cord and tablet was back to normal. Also, the program it comes with could function a little better. However, these problems don't really get in the way of everyday life, they're not really a hassle or anything, i'm just complaining. TLDR; it is a very good tablet, especially for its price range. I've had no huge technical problems. My main complaints are the physical designs of the tablet, like awkward wire placement. The design of the tablet just feels...a little dated. Maybe I'm just used to everything being sleek and easy but, that should always be kept in mind when designing a product that'll be used often. Sorry if this sounds harsh, I actually really like this tablet though and I'm glad it was my first display tablet.

Outstanding tablet. Pressure sensitivity is wonderful. I had a Intuos that was purchased for me in middle school (I'm 28 now, lol). This says a lot about Wacom's long-lasting products, but the drivers themselves leave a lot to be desired. Randomly, the pressure sensitivity would just disappear while I was drawing--something I contributed to the age of my unit because I don't remember this problem when I was younger. But it sounds like this is an issue now with all their products across the board. When I finally got into the market for an upgrade to a drawing monitor, I actually started looking into other brands. The Cintiq had long been my dream-come-true piece of equipment, but the more I researched, the more I realised that Huion was basically the same thing, but less than half the price and newer technology. Plus, they give you an extra pen, a cleaning cloth and a screen protector to go with it! I don't need hotkeys on the side of my tablet... I have a keyboard for that. Heck, buy one of those speciality tiny keyboards /and/ the Huion and it's still cheaper. I don't want to even call it a 'budget' tablet because 'budget' implies it's lacking somewhere or is cheaply made. This is actually a lovely product that will take care of you--and make your drawing experience awesome for a price that isn't astronomical. Differences of the Huion with a Cintiq: -Need to charge pen. 1 charge = lots of time drawing. Not a huge deal. -No buttons. Not a huge deal -Almost 5 lbs lighter--will save you money when you purchase a mount for it too, too. -Appearance is sleeker. Cintiq looks dated IMO. -Resolution is actually better than the Cintiq, I believe, but don't hold me to that. If anything, it's comparable or the same at the least. I can't quite remember what the reviews said. But you're not sacrificing anything with the resolution for the price, that I know for sure. Go forth! Save money, and love drawing!

Pros: - Really an excellent product when compared to it's $1600 wacom competitor - Screen protector is a nice texture to use the pen on - Once you get the pen aligned, it works like a dream - HUGE screen, I don't feel like I'm being restricted by it - Some people said theirs heated up, but I haven't had any issues with it getting hot (I've used it up to 4 hours at a time so far) - Includes two pens and a glove, and the pens keep their charge for a long time - GREAT pressure sensitivity - It doesn't have pen tilt sensitivity, but I actually don't like that in a stylus so that is a pro to me. - I draw in a dark room when I use it (even during the day) so I don't have problems with glare, and the screen can be adjusted, and at it's brightest it's excellent. - As far as digital art, it's a great product, it does what you need it to and is a lot of fun to use and has helped me a lot Cons, most of this just deals with setting up, not the actual use of the product - The driver that came with the box wasn't working, and on the website there were two different drivers (depending on the page you went to) for the same tablet and one of them does work and one doesn't. Setting up the driver should be easy but this was a huge headache for me... - Every other time I turn it on, I have to re-calibrate the pen so that it's accurate. - The colors on the screen are a little bit duller than what you'll see on your monitor, but it's not a huge difference. - I have to restart my computer before I change over to the Huion screen from my monitor for it to connect properly. - I'm currently talking to Huion on this issue, but right now, I can't figure out how to get the pen to switch to the eraser tool temporarily (while holding the button down), which is a tool I use a LOT, so this has been the one thing to slow down my drawing. But I am hoping I can get a solution soon. All and all, this really is a great product, once you get past the setting up, it's made digital art more fun and doable, and I feel that I have better control of my art now. I would highly suggest this to an artist who can't afford the wacom, and honestly, for the price difference, wacom isn't much better (at least not $1000 worth better). I imagine wacom's software is easier on the user, but honestly I can get past that. I hope to see more Huion products that improve on these issues, they really are the rising star of digital art tablets and I appreciate a company making affordable products for artists.

As someone unable to afford laying down the cost of a sizable Wacom Cintiq, I immediately began searching for alternatives. My little Intuos tablet had taken me as far as it could, and I needed something better suited to more serious work. When I found this one, I was a little uncertain as I was unfamiliar with the brand. I am happy to say this is one of the best investments I have ever made! It's a high end, large tablet, one that has given me no serious problems. I read quite a few accounts saying that it was difficult to set up, but for me, once I calibrated the sensitivity and the screen, it worked flawlessly; I have had no issues with the cursor calibration, and pressure sensitivity is fantastic. Colors are vibrant and look essentially indistinguishable on my main monitor. My only minor complaint (far from a deal breaker) is that unlike my old Wacom tablet pen, I cannot map the buttons to a command that requires you to hold the button down and also tap the screen. For example, I prefer to map my side button to the ALT key to easily use the eyedropper tool in Photoshop. This no longer works with my Huion. Instead, I simply mapped the pen and the eyedropper to those buttons and swap out that way, so it's not a concern for me at all. Overall, it's a fantastic piece of equipment and I recommend it 1000% to anyone unable to afford the cost of a higher end tablet of similar quality.

I've been using the tablet for a bit now, testing it in multiple applications including 3ds Max, Zbrush, 3DCoat, Substance Painter, and Adobe Photoshop. I've ran into a few issues but nothing major. In the first screen shot, the spinner option to set offset automatically moves me mouse pointer to the 2nd monitor. Which is odd...and I'm not sure how to fix it or why it's happening. It happens randomly sometimes too, outside of using 3ds Max, and I haven't been able to pinpoint what software may be causing it. That leads me to another problem. Having a 2nd monitor setup causes some strange problems. One is my color calibration. Whenever I restart my computer, it reverts back to default driver settings and it's frustrating to recalibrate back to matching (or close to matching) colors. I've tried using SLi, non-SLi setups, different cables and adapters, but it happens still...randomly. Final problem is resolution choices. The only equivalent to 16:9 resolution is 1600 x 900 (PC), and it's nowhere as crisp as usiong the native 1080p option (pictured). In my experience, using the PC resolutions results in better quality/response time. So I'm kind of stuck using that specific resolution. The driver is set to Generic PnP Monitor. I'm guessing that's default for any hdmi device? Aesthetically; The pen is uncomfortable for me after using Wacom for so long. I would highly recommend that Huion invest in different pen styles and feels, ESPECIALLY the buttons. The buttons aren't large enough. I use them a lot when modeling and they don't feel prominent enough to keep the pen in a specific position at all times. Some rubber on the pen would also be helpful to keep a solid grip. On installing - the HDMI output from the tablet is in an awful location. I purchased a bendable dongle to help out with wear. If you're using a durable HDMI cable, you'll see exactly what I mean. Those are my only complaints honestly. For the good stuff; This tablet is great for the price. The two pens are nice and I've used one pen on a single charge for weeks. The pen pressure needs adjusting after the initial install, but once you get it down, it's buttery smooth. The install was quick and easy. The adjustable tilt bracket is easy to install and even easier to use. The tablet itself is pretty solid. And despite the purchase including a glove, I haven't had an issue with the screen getting warm enough to use it. I actually took it to work and use it with the Cintiq I have there. So that's all. I'm pleased with my purchase, it allows me everything I need to do at a fraction of what the high-end tablets would have cost me. TLDR; Remarkable tablet for the cost, does what any artist would need (unless you need tilt). Can get kind of wonky on dual monitor setup/dual GPU computers. Damn-near plug and play setup. -- Update I've struggled with the pen's calibration. Pen sensitivity stopped working in Photoshop CC. Driver download from their website doesn't match the driver included with the purchase, and now the pen doesn't work. The screen resolution changes what I'm seeing in photoshop for some reason. At first it was clear, but now it's become jagged (like anti-aliasing problems) when I'm not zoomed in 100%. The price is nice but for solid working merchandise that remains reliable, I wish I had just waited and saved for a new Wacom unfortunately..

UPDATE: Wonderful customer service! Very quick prompt and courteous. They are sending me a replacement monitor to replace my defective one and it was no hassle at all. Great Company! Great Product! I can't wait to get my new one! These monitors are really great. I also have the 191 at work and it has given me no issues at all. This is a company that stands behind their product and does what's right to make sure you get more than what you paid for. Great alternative to WACOM. I'm a professional but even then Wacoms are very expensive and this was the perfect alternative. You won't regret it! Purchased this tablet in October of 2017. In May 2018 this tablet is going completely black, half fading out, getting distorted, or rapidly distorting the image for about 30 seconds. When I hover my pen over the screen is when the distortion happens. Not consistently enough to cause it but enough to form a general hypothesis on this glitch's cause and effect. I also had the screen go completely black tonight and couldn't get it to go back until I turned off power gave it 10 seconds, and even after turning back on it took it extra time to turn back on. I'm going to submit this to Huion's warranty. Depending on how Huion responds will depend on if this review changes or not. I hope they work with me as I really liked this monitor while it worked. My other one I have at work the 191 was purchased in July of 2017 and hasn't had any of these issues even once so it seems like just a random defective one that occurs in every tech products batch.

This is an older model I know, but I don't use side buttons, I use my keyboard for when I need additional control over my brushes. I love not having a touch screen but only the pen moves or edit things, it's predictable and therefore easier to create an environment you can work in. Great screen, good updates, and works amazingly with my M1 Mac Mini w/16 gigs of Ram using the Adobe Suite and Corel Painter. It was used with my previous 2013 Intel MacBook Pro until it pooped out on me :( The pens are not made very well though, they work fine but charging them is a bit of a pain, but I've actually never had one run out of power yet! This company makes professional level freehand illustration accessible to the new designer and as a 27 year veteran in graphics, my pocket book as well. The competition makes a great screen for far too much $$. The newer crop of screens seem nice also from this brand, but I've no experience with them. Hope this helps!
