I'm assuming the concern isn't actually about water. As long as the "spill" is blotted up fairly soon and didn't happen at the seam where the bottom is sewed to the sides, you're probably OK. It is a tightly-woven nylon. You could spray the outside with Scotchguard or set it on an old shower curtain to be absolutely safe.

I don't know if it's waterproof, but the fabric can probably repel a few droplets. I use it for my 5lb Pomeranian inside.
