Fascinating Romanov yearbook
Once again Helen Azar has brought the Romanov family to life through her translations of their own writings. With each book I feel I am getting to know the real Romanovs more and more. It is important to note that this book is not a set of diaries and letters from one particular year, but a collection of interesting diary entries and letters from across a number of years, one for each day of the year, which offer a fascinating snapshot into the life of Russia's Imperial family as told by themselves. This is a must-have addition to anyone who has an interest for the Romanovs.

A fantastic idea and a really good read, but with some little mistakes in setting
I really like Helen Azars book and I honor the work she puts in them. This book comes up with a really fine idea. 2018 is a remarkable year for one hundred years ago the last Russian Imperial family was killed in Jekaterinburg. Azar has set them a requiem by using a diary entry or letter of each member of the family or friend, relative with a photo for one dear of the year, like a Romanov calendar. For readers, who are interested in the family it is quite good and interesting. And for those ones, who do only have a little knowledge about the family, too, for there are notes added for the persons mentions, because Nicholas II. and his family had many friends and servants, who can t be remembered as a whole. And even think of the sometimes complicated Russian names. So one can read the book day by day or in a whole, because Azar brings the family back to life. The diary entries and letters are from different years- some were written during the WW I, some before that or earlier. Sometimes it s very emotional, because if the tsarina is mentioned by the children or her husband, she is often ill and one can now understand how hard it was for the other family members, when she had to rest all day due to heart problems or heavy migraine attacks. There are some little mistakes- sometimes a word is spelled not correctly, a page is printed twice- but it s a self published book and so one can "overread" it. I enjoyed the book really much and could not stop reading as I m very interested in the last Imperial family of Russia for many years. I do hereby recommend this book, which is really well researched and a fantastic read!

I love this!!! totally recomend it. Me encanta!! Lo recomiendo!!
It is a really special book because everyday there is something to read, something they wrote with their own hands. it is incredible to imagine everyday just a bit, how their days were. i totally recomend it!! Es un libro muy especial porque cada día hay algo que leer, algo que escribieron con sus propias manos. es increible imaginar cada día como su rutina era. Lo recomiendo totalmente!!
