Works great, Well worth the money!
I bought it for my Vermont castings stove, works great! I almost bought other ones but the reviews said they last some months and that's it. So I spent the extra $ for a better product and I got what I paid for, Quality. Its strong magnet works great, temp readings are on point. It's a win win!

It works have not failed so far.
We burn a wood stove for are secondary heat. I installed the gauge three months ago in December 2023. It is now the end of February and still works greater. It was a bit pricey, but I read the reviews of the other gauges and they seem to fail. I found one that a person bought and his review said that that gauge failed and he was going back to his other Vermont gauge. That to me was a good test of the Vermont gauge.

good, accurate and ready to go
This stovetop thermometer is very good quality. While it's does have a magnet that works very well it also has a bail handle. This is a very nice feature to allow you to move it with less change of burning yourself. But please use gloves. Using a heat gun will not produce accurate temperature readings, such as on a vermont castings griddle. It's a great way to see and adjust your stove temperatures at a glance. This will allow you to flip up your griddle for example without having to move the thermometer.

Works Great; Should Have Come With The Stove
I bought this to go with our Encore stove and set it on the griddle plate where it appears to be functioning just fine. I have no way of testing its accuracy but simply accept that the plate is blisteringly hot (enough to boil water and spin the stove fan blades). After a few weeks and several fires, I have not had any problems with this thermometer โ if I do, in the future, I will update this review. I am confident that Vermont Castings makes a quality stove so, my only gripe is: one of these should be included in every stove purchase. Hopefully, this review was helpful to you.

Thought it was a good one
Worked great for a couple weeks. Now the indicator needle gets stuck and you canโt read the correct temp. Disappointed

Works as Intended
I bought this for my new Vermont Casting woodstove, and I haven't had any issues with it. I haven't done any testing of the accuracy, but I have seen nothing while using it that would lead me to think that it isn't accurate. If you need something to go with your new woodstove this is a great option.

Readings were 150 degrees off
This is a nice simple thermometer that I thought would work perfectly with my Vermont Castings wood stove. I initially assumed I wasn't building fires right because of it's unique design with the secondary catalytic system and kept trying. After buying an infrared thermometer and checking temperatures, I've come to find that this doesn't read anywhere near the actual temperature. It averages 150 degrees over what the stove actually is. Once I started building fires based off the infrared, making fires became easier and we got so much more heat out of it. I wouldn't trust this overpriced piece of metal. A cheap infrared thermometer is not that far off in price so I'd just tell people to buy one of those.
