The layered Damascus steel is more a cosmetic plus than a usability factor, and the handle with several segments, while attractive, could use a little more refinement in assembly. Mine has slightly different thicknesses between the segments so it feels a little rough in your hand. That aside, trimming and slicing is a breeze and it’s inexpensive for Japanese steel.
