Functional but flawed.
These heel guards are nicely machined out of aluminium and are ideal for the placement of luggage straps for longer trips. I would prefer them without the manufacturer’s name emblazoned across them but at this price point I can live with it.There are a couple of issues to be aware of if you’re thinking of buying these.The bolts supplied in the kit are too long and would gouge your swingarm in use. You could shorten the bolts or add more washers to rectify this issue but I sourced a set of shorter replacement bolts and these work fine.The other thing to note is that because they are made out of flat plate they run very close to the swingarm at the tip. Due to this I have put washers behind the heel guard to space it off a little to avoid any interference once luggage straps are fitted.They would have been better if they were designed to be angled outwards, away from the bike, from behind the mountings.Overall I’m happy with the purchase at this price, however, if I had fitted these with the included hardware and damaged my swingarm I would have been very upset.Be warned.
